வந்தோமிது வேகதி யாட்சியு
மிந்தாமயில் வாகனர் சீட்டிது
வந்தாளுவம் நாமென வீக்கிய	சிவநீறும்
வந்தேவெகு வாநமை யாட்கொளு
வந்தார்மத மேதினி மேற்கொள
மைந்தாகும ராவெனு மார்ப்புய	மறவாதே

Paraphrase

The poet addresses his mind and exhorts it to surrender it to the Lord.

அந்தோ மனமே நமது ஆ(யா)க்கையை நம்பாதே (andhO manamE namadhu Akkaiyai nambAdhe) : Alas, Oh my mind, do not trust this body of ours யாக்கை(yakkai) : body;

இதம் அகிதம் சூத்திரம் (idhu Agitha sUththiram) : It is just an instrument intended to produce pleasure and pain. இதாகித/இத அகித (ithaagitha (hitha ahitha)) : comforting and painful;

அம்போருகன் ஆடிய பூட்டு இது (ambOrugan Adiya pUttidhu) : BrahmA who is seated on a lotus, designed this lock (body). அம்போருகம் (ambOrugam) : Lotus; அம்போருகன் (amborugan) : one who is seated on the lotus; Lord Brahma;

இனி மேல் நாம் அஞ்சாது அமையா (inimEl nAm anjAdhamaiyA) : From now on, we cannot remain unafraid (that this body will perish);

கிரி யாக்கையை பஞ்சாடிய வேலவனார்க்கு இயல் அங்கு ஆகுவம் வா இனிது (giri yAkkaiyai panjAdiya vElavanArkku iyal angAguvam vA inidhu) : You surrender happily to Velavan who shattered the body of the Krauncha mountain into cotton-like dust.கிரௌஞ்ச மலையின் வடிவத்தைத் தூள்படுத்திய வேலாயுதக் கடவுளுக்கு நீங்காத அன்புடையோர் ஆகுவோம். அங்கு நீ என்னுடன் வருவாய்.

யாக்கையை ஒழியாமல் வந்தோம் ( Akkaiyai ozhiyAmal vandhOm) : Without letting the body waste away, we have come to Him.

இதுவே கதி ஆட்சியும் (idhuvE gathi yAtchiyum) : This is the path for blissful liberation. முருகனுக்கு ஆட்பட்டு அன்பு செய்யும் மெய்ந்நெறியே மோட்சம் அளிக்கும். ஆதலால் இதனைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்,

இந்தா மயில் வாகனர் சீட்டு இது வந்து ஆளுவம் நாம் என வீக்கிய சிவ நீறும் (indhA mayil vAhanar seettu idhu vandhu ALuvam nAmena veekkiya sivaneeRum) : Hold this ticket given to us by the Lord mounting the peacock. He has given us His holy ash and has assured us that He would come and protect us, மயிலேறும் பெருமான் “நாம் வந்தருளி உன்னை யாட்கொள்வோம்” என்று வேகமுறச் செலுத்தித் தந்த இந்த சீட்டும் மங்கலம் தரும் திருநீற்றையும் பெற்றுக் கொள்; வீக்குதல் = வேகமுறச்செலுத்துதல்;

வந்தே வெகுவா நமை ஆட் கொள் உவந்தார் (vandhE veguvA namai AtkoL uvandhAr) :He is pleased to come to us and gladly take us over.

மதம் ஏது இனி மேற்கொள (madha mEdhini mEr koLa) : Is there any other religion for us to embrace?

மைந்தா குமரா எனும் ஆர்ப்பு உய மறவாதே (maindhA kumarA enum Arppuya maRavAdhE) : Never forget to pray loudly "Oh Son of SivA, KumarA!" for your own salvation.

திந்தோதிமி தீதத மா துடி தந்தாதன னாதன தாத்தன (dhindhOdhimi dheedhadha mAththudi thandhAthana nAdhana thAththana) : The big hand-drums were beaten to the meter of "dhindhOdhimi dheedhadha" and to the sound of "thandhAthana nAdhana thAththana",

செம் பூரிகை பேரிகை ஆர்த்து எழ மறை ஓத (sem pUrigai bErigai Arththezha maRai Odha) : the reddish percussion instruments PUrigai and drums (BErigai) made loud noise; the VEdAs were chanted everywhere;

செம் காடு எனவே வரும் மூர்க்கரை (senkAd enavE varu mUrkkarai) : when the blood gushing from the demons made the forest red by

சங்கார சிகாமணி வேல் கொடு (sankAra sikAmaNi vErkodu) : Your Spear, the greatest destroyer,

செண்டு ஆடி மகா மயில் மேல் கொளு முருகோனே (seNdu Adi mahA mayil mErkoLu murugOnE) : shattered their heads, Oh MurugA, who mounted the great peacock!

இந்தோடு இதழ் நாகம் மகா கடல் (indhOdidhazh nAga mahAk kadal) : The crescent moon, the shell of a turtle, kondRai (Indian laburnum) flower, the serpents, the ocean-like river Ganga; இந்து (inthu) : moon;

கங்காளம் மின் ஆர் சடை சூட்டிய (gangALami nArsadai sUttiya) : and the garland of skeletons adorn His dazzling tresses; கங்காளம்(kangaaLam) : skeletons; மின் ஆர் சடை (min Ar sadai) : tresses shining like a lightning;

என் தாதை சதா சிவ கோத்திரன் அருள் பாலா (enthAdhai sadhAsiva gOththiran aruLbAlA:) : He is our Father and the Head of the lineage of Sadasivan; he delivered You as His child!

எண் கூடு அருளால் நௌவி நோக்கியை நல் பூ மணம் மேவி (eNkUdu aruLAl nauvi nOkkiyai nanpU maNamEvi) : With immeasurable grace, You united with VaLLi, with looks of a deer, in holy wedlock! எண் கூடு(eN koodu) : immeasurable, abundant; நௌவி ( nauvi ) : deer;

சிராப்ப(ள்)ளி என்பார் மனம் மேதினில் நோக்கிய பெருமாளே. (sirAppaLi yenpArmana mEthini nOkkiya perumALE.) : You reside in the world of the hearts of those who merely utter the name of this holy place, ThirusirAppaLLi, Oh Great One! திரிசிராப்பள்ளி என்ற திருத்தலத்தின் பேரை சொல்லும் பேறு பெற்றவர்கள் உள்ளமாகிய பூமியில் எழுந்தருளியுள்ள பெருமானே!
