பசை அற்ற உடல் வற்ற வினை முற்றி நடை நெட்டி பறியக் (pasai atRa udal vatRa vinai mutRi nadai nettipaRiya) : The dry skin of my body has shrivelled and shrunk further as a result of my accumulated karma; my steps falter and I lose my balance; ஈரப்பசையற்ற இவ்வுடல் வற்றிப் போகச் செய்த வினை முதிர்ச்சி அடைந்து, நடையும் தள்ளாடுதலை அடைந்து,

கை சொறியப் பல் வெளியாகி (kai soRiyap pal veLiyAki) : my hands keep scratching all over and my teeth protrude outward (as the gums recede);

படலைக்கு விழி கெட்ட குருடு உற்று (padalaikku vizhi ketta kurudu utRu) : because of the growing cataract, my vision became impaired; கண் பூ விழுந்து மறைப்பதால் பார்வை இழந்து குருடாகி, படலை (padalai) : படலம்;

மிக நெக்க பழம் உற்று நரை கொக்கின் நிறமாகி (mika nekka pazham utRu narai kokkin niRamAgi ) : my body has become feeble and tender like a dry fruit; my hair became white like the crane; மிகவும் நெகிழ்ந்து பழம் போலப் பழுத்து, மயிர் நரைத்து கொக்கைப் போல் வெண்ணிறமாகி,

விசை பெற்று வரு பித்தம் வளியைக் கண் நிலை கெட்டு (visai petRu varu piththam vaLiyaik kaN nilai kettu ) : the wind and the bile rising up rapidly makes me dizzy and blind; வேகத்துடன் வருகின்ற பித்தத்தாலும், வாயுவினாலும், கண் இடமும் நிலையும் தடுமாறிக் கெட்டு,

மெலிவு உற்று விரல் பற்று தடியோடே (melivu utRu viral patRu thadiyOdE ) : I become very feeble and I have to support myself with a cane;

வெளி நிற்கும் விதம் உற்ற இடர் பெற்ற ஜனனத்தை விடுவித்து (veLi niRkum vitham utRa idar petRa jananaththai viduviththu) : I have been virtually thrown out in the open in this miserable birth; is it possible for me to be liberated, வெளியே தனியனாக நிற்கின்ற நிலைமை தரும் துன்பமே கொண்ட பிறப்பைத் தவிர்த்து,

உன் அருள் வைப்பது ஒரு நாளே (un aruL vaippathu oru nALE) : and to obtain Your blessings one of these days?

அசைவு அற்ற நிருதர்க்கு மடி உற்ற பிரியத்தில் அடல் வஜ்ர கரன் மற்றும் உள வானோர் (asaivu atRa nirutharkku madi utRa piriyaththil adal vajra karan matRum uLa vAnOr) : When the unshakable demons were destroyed, the ecstatic celestials, including IndrA, who holds the weapon vajra, கலக்கம் இல்லாத அசுரர்கள் மடிந்து இறந்ததினால் மகிழ்ந்த வலிய வஜ்ராயுதக் கையனனாகிய இந்திரனும் மற்றும் உள்ள தேவர்களும், அசைவு (asaivu) : சலிப்பு;

அளவு அற்ற மலர் விட்டு நிலம் உற்று மறையச் செய் அதுலச் சமர வெற்றி உடையோனே (aLavu atRa malar vittu nilam utRu maRaiyac cey athulac camara vetRi udaiyOnE) : showered abundant flowers covering the earth; You are a matchless warrior and victor in the battlefield!, பூக்களைப் பொழிந்து பூமி முழுதும் மறையும்படிச் செய்கின்ற நிகர் இல்லாதவனே, போரில் வெற்றி உடையவனே,

வசை அற்று முடிவு அற்று வளர் பற்றின் அளவு அற்ற வடிவு உற்ற முகில் கிட்ணன் மருகோனே (vasai atRu mudivu atRu vaLar patRin aLavu atRa vadivu utRa mukil kitNan marugOnE) : Because of an unblemished and limitless love He had for the PANdavAs, He assumed countless forms; He is KrishNa, of the hue of dark cloud! You are His nephew! குற்றம் அற்று, முடிவு இல்லாது பாண்டவர்கள் தன் மீது வைத்து இருந்த எப்போதும் பெருகுகின்ற பற்றுக் காரணமாக (பாண்டவர்கள் கண்ணன் மீது வைத்திருந்த பற்று குற்றம் அற்றது. முடிவு இல்லாதது. நாளுக்கு நாள் வளர்வது), எண்ணில்லாத வடிவங்களை எடுத்த, மேக வண்ணன் ஆகிய கிருஷ்ணருடைய திருமருகரே!
Before leaving for Hastinapura on a peace mission, Lord Krishna assumed multiple forms before Sahadeva, challenging him to bind Him with a rope. Sahadeva sat in meditation in which He could identify the real Krishna and tied him down by the rope of love. Krishna then explained that war was unavoidable in order to establish Dharma. Sahadeva then released Him, after extracting the promise that none of the Pandavas would meet death in the war.

மதுரச் செம் மொழி செப்பி அருள் பெற்ற சிவ பத்தர் வளர் (mathura chem mozhi seppi aruL petRa siva paththar vaLar) : This place is full of Saivite devotees who attained Your blessing merely by chanting Your sweet and glorious name; சம்பந்தர் இந்த ஸ்தலத்தில் ஏழு பதிகங்கள் பாடியிருக்கிறார். அப்பர் ஒரு பதிகமும், சுந்தரமூர்த்தி ஸ்வாமிகள் மூன்று பதிகங்களும் பாடியுள்ளனர். சுந்தரமூர்த்தி நாயனார் இங்கு இறைவனிடம் பொன் பெற்று மணிமுத்தாற்றில் இட்டு, அதைத் திருவாரூர் திருக்குளத்தில் தனது மனைவி பரவையுடன் சென்று 'பொன் செய்த மேனியினீர்' என்று பதிகம் பாடி பொற்காசுகள் குளத்தில் மிதந்து வர அவற்றை மீட்டுக்கொண்டார்.
