தரணி மிசை அ(ன்)னையினிட உந்தியின் வந்து உகு துளி பயறு கழல் (dharaNimisai anaiyinida vundhiyin vandhu ugum thuLi payaRu kazhal) : In this world, a little droplet of the size of a lentil falls into the womb of a mother; இந்தப் பூமியில் தாயின் வயிற்றில் (கர்ப்பப்பையில்) ஒரு துளி பயறு அளவு விழுந்து சேர்ந்து ,

இனிய அண்டமும் கொண்டு அதில் தசை உதிர(ம்) நிண(ம்) நிறைய அங்கமும் தங்க (iniya andamung koNdadhin dhasaiyudhira niNa niRaiya angamun thanga) : it takes the shape of a delightful egg in which muscles, blood and flesh develop, with the formation of limbs; இன்பகரமான முட்டை வடிவாகி, அதில் சதை, இரத்தம், கொழுப்பு இவை நிறைவு பெற, (பின்னர்) அவயவங்களும் வந்து கூட, அண்டமுங் கொண்டு = முட்டை வடிவாகி

ஒன்பது வாயும் தரு கரமொடு இனிய பதமும் கொ(ண்)டு அங்கு ஒன்பதும் பெருகி (onbadhu vAyum tharu karamodu iniya padhamum kodu angu onbadhum perugi) : with nine outlets, arms and nice legs, the nine portals (consisting of two each of eyes, ears, nostrils and excretory organs and one mouth) become distinctly visible; அங்கு ஒன்பதும் பெருகி = அங்கே கண் (2), காது (2), மூக்குத் தொளை (2), வாய் (1), மலத்துவாரம் (1), சலத் துவாரம் (1) ஆகிய ஒன்பது துவாரங்களும் ஏற்பட்டு;

ஒரு ப(த்)தின் அவனி வந்து கண்டு அன்புடன் தநயன் என (orupadhin avani vandhu kaNdanbudan thanayanena) : in about ten months, the child arrives in this world to be greeted with pleasure by the parents who cherish the child as theirs;

நடை பழகி மங்கை தன் சிங்கியின் வசமாகி (nadai pazhagi mangai than singiyin vasamAgi) : the child learns to walk; (on becoming a youth) he is ensnared as a victim to the lustful acts of women; நடக்கக் கற்று,(வாலிப வயதில்) மாதர்களின் விஷமச் செயல்களில் அகப்பட்டு,

திரிகி உடல் வளைய நடை தண்டு உடன் சென்று (thirigi udal vaLaiya nadai thandudan sendru) : he eventually gets exhausted; his condition undergoes a reversal; his erect upper body bends down and he has to rely on a walking stick; சலிப்பு அடைந்து, நிலை மாறி, நிமிர்ந்த உடல் குனிய, தடியுடன் நடந்து செல்வதாகி, திரிகி (thirigi) : சலிப்பு அடைந்து, நிலை மாறி,

பின் கிடை எனவும் மருவி மனை முந்தி வந்து அந்தகன் சிதற உயிர் (pin kidai enavu maruvi manai mundhi vandh anthagan sidhaRa uyir) : thereafter, he is confined to bed at all times; the God of Death (Yaman) knocks the front door and takes out his life away from the body; பிறகு படுக்கையில் கிடந்து விட, வீட்டின் முன் வாயில் வழியே யமன் வந்து உயிரைச் சிதறும்படிச் செய்ய ,

பிணம் எனவே மைந்தரும் பந்துவும் அயர்வாகி (piNamenave maindharum bandhuvum ayarvAgi) : he is declared as a corpse, saddening his sons and relatives; பிணம் என்று முடிவு செய்து, மக்களும் சுற்றமும் சோர்வடைந்து,

செடம் இதனை எடும் எடுமின் என்று கொண்டு அன்புடன் சுடலை மிசை எரியில் இட வெந்து பின் சிந்திடும் (jedam idhanai edum edumin endru koNdu anbudan sudalai misai eriyil ida vendhu pin chinthidum) : people keep on repeating "take this corpse away"; the body is carried to the cremation ground and is laid lovingly on the fire logs; it is burnt and converted into ashes to be immersed in water. இந்தப் பிணத்தை எடுத்துச் செல்லவும் என்று பன்முறைகள் சொல்ல, எடுத்துக் கொண்டு போய் அன்புடன் சுடுகாட்டில் நெருப்பில் இட, வெந்து சாம்பலாகி நீரில் கலந்து அழிகின்ற

செரு எதிரும் அசுரர் கிளை மங்க(seruvedhirum asurarkiLai manga) : The multitude of hostile demons who came to the war was destroyed;

எங்கெங்கணும் கழுகு கருடன் நயனம் இது கண்டு கொண்டு அம்பரம் திரிய (engengaNum kazhu garudan nayanam idhu kaNdu koNdu ambaram thiriya) : eagles and vultures, with a keen eye for corpses, hovered around everywhere in the sky; எல்லா இடத்திலும் கழுகு, கருடன் இவைகளின் கண்கள் (பிணங்களைக்) கண்டு உணர்ந்து ஆகாயத்தில் சுற்றிவர,

மிகு அலகையுடன் வெம் கணம் தங்களின் மகிழ்வாகி சின அசுரர் உடலம் அது தின்று தின்று இன்புடன் (migu alagaiyudan vengaNan thangaLin magizhvAgi sina asurar udalamadhu thindru thindru inbudan) : hordes of devils devoured the corpses of the angry demons and, leaping in joy, மிக்கு வரும் பேய்களின் கொடிய கூட்டங்கள் தங்களுக்குள் மகிழ்ச்சி பூண்டு, கோபத்துடன் இறந்து விட்ட அசுரர்களின் உடல்களைத் தின்று, மகிழ்ச்சியுடன், அலகை (alagai) : பேய்;

டுமுடுமுட டுமுடுமுட டுண்டுடுண் டுண்டுடுண்டு திமிலை பறை முழவு துடி பம்பையும் சங்கமும் தவ மோத (dumu dumuda dumu dumuda duNduduN duNduduN thimilai paRai muzhavu thudi pambaiyum sangamun thavamOdha) : beat many drums and percussion instruments such as thimilai, paRai, muzhavu, thudi, pambai and sangam, making the sound 'dumu dumuda dumu dumuda duNduduN duNduduN' ;

அண்டர் தம் பண்டு உறும் சிறையை விட வரு முருக என்று வந்து (aNdar tham paNduRum siraiyai vida varumuruga endru vandhu) : "Oh MurugA! You came to liberate the celestials from the prisons where they were shackled previously!" - with these words, தேவர்களை முன்பு அடைபட்டிருந்த சிறையினின்றும் விடுவித்த முருகனே என்று கூறி வந்து

இந்திரன் சது(ர்) முகன் அடி பரவ மண்டு வெம்ச(ம)ம் பொரும் கதிர் வேலா (indhiran chathumukanum adiparava maNdu venjam porung kadhirvElA) : IndrA and the four-faced Lord BrahmA prostrated at Your feet as You cornered the enemies and fought a fierce war wielding Your dazzling spear, Oh Lord! இந்திரன், நான்முகன் பிரமன் முதலியோர் உன் அடிகளைப் போற்ற, எதிரிகளை நெருக்கி கொடிய போரைச் செய்த ஒளி வீசும் வேலாயுதனே,

சக(ம்) முழுதும் அடைய அமுது உண்டிடும் கொண்டலும் தெரிவரிய (jagamuzhudhu madaiya amudhuNdidung koNdalun) : Even Lord VishNu, of the hue of dark cloud, who gobbled up the entire world as if it were nectar, உலகம் எல்லாவற்றையும் முழுதாக அமுதென உண்ட மேக வண்ணத் திருமாலும் காண முடியாத

முடியில் அரவங்களும் திங்களும் சலம் இதழி அணியும் ஒரு சங்கரன் தந்திடும் பெருமாளே.
