Paraphrase

Saint Arunagirinathar prays that the Lord should preach him the techniques prescribed by Yoga shastras for raising the life force energy lying coiled like a snake at the Muladhara chakra so that, through His Grace, he may reach higher states of consciousness and attain salvation by uniting with the Sivam. For this the mind should be directed to stay far away from the paths that uncontrolled desire may lead him to.

மனதுறு மோக அடவி (manathuRu mOga Atavi) : The forest of desire which grows in the mind, மனத்தில் பொருந்தியுள்ள ஆசை என்ற காடு

மூலா நிலமதின் மேலே சுடர்தனை நாடி (mUlA nilamathin mElE sudar thanai nAdi) : (without straying into multiple paths) should focus and seek the effulgence/brilliant flame far above the mUlAdhara Peetam (through Yogic practices); (வேறு வழிகளில் திசை மாறி செல்லாமல்) மூலாதார நிலைக்கு மேல் உள்ள ஜோதியினை ஏகாக்கிரக சித்தத்துடன் நாடிச் சென்று (மூலாதாரத்தில் உள்ள விநாயகர் முதல், மேலே சுவாதிஷ்டானம், மணி பூரகம், அனாகதம், விசுத்தி, ஆஞ்ஞை முதலிய ஆதாரங்களில் உள்ள பிரமா, விஷ்ணு, ருத்திரன், மகேசுரன் - சதாசிவம் ஆகிய மூர்த்திகளின் திருக்கோலங்கள் பிரசன்னமாகி நல்ல சுடர் தோற்றமுற யோகவழியில் நாடி),

உனதாலே கதி பெற ( unathAlE gathi peRa) : which I should discern with Your grace and attain salvation. உன்னருளாலே யான் கண்டு முக்தி பெற, உனதாலே (unathAlE) : உன்னை ஆராய்ந்து கருதுவதன் பயனாக;

நீடூழி தனிலை வாடா மணி ஒளி நீதா (needUzhi thanilai vAdA maNi oLi neethA) : You are the eternal flame that never shows any diminishing even during the great deluge, and You are the dispenser of justice! நீண்ட ஊழிக்காலத்தும் (எப்போதும்) தன் நிலை வாடாத சுயம்பிரகாச மணி ஜோதியே, நீதிமானே,

நேமா ரகசிய உபதேசம் பலமது தருவாயே (nEmA ragasiya upathEsam palamathu tharuvAyE) : Preach me the secret updesa that is governed by moral and ethical rectitude, and grant me the benefit thereof. ஒழுக்க விதிக்கு உட்பட்ட ரகசிய உபதேசம் பயன்தரும் வகையில் உபதேசித்தருளுக. நேமா (nEmA) : நியமம் வாய்ந்த;

யமன் உதை காலார் தரவரு குருநாதா (yaman uthai kAlAr thara varu gurunAthA) : and He kicked the God of Death (Yaman) by His foot. He is Lord SivA who blessed us with You, Oh Great Master! காலனை உதைத்த திருவடியினருமான சிவபெருமான் தந்தருள வந்த குருமூர்த்தியே,
