Story of Ravana's Crying Out Loud

Ravana was a devotee of Shiva. Once when he was flying on his chariot, he found the Kailash mountain blocking his way. He did not want to go around it and decided to uproot the mountain. As he did so, Parvati got scared by the sudden jerk and hugged Shiva for protection. Shiva pressed his big toe against the mountain. Ravana who got caught under the mountain cried out in pain. Sage Narada advised Ravana to please Shiva with music. Ravana used one of his heads to craft a veena and used his own nerves to create the string for the instrument. Shiva was highly pleased by the Sama Gana that Ravana played on the instrument . He let Ravana free and blessed him.
