அடல் அரி மகவு விதி வழி ஒழுகு(ம்) ஐவரும் மொய் குரம்பையுடன் (adal ari magavu vithi vazhi ozhugum aivarum moyk kurambaiyudan) : The five sense organs (mouth, eyes, body, ears and nose) that traverse the path of fate decreed by BrahmA, the son of powerful Vishnu. These sense organs conspire together in the cottage of my body. வலிமை வாய்ந்த திருமாலின் பிள்ளையான பிரமா எழுதி விட்ட விதியின் வழியே செல்லும் ஐம்புலன்கள் கூடி வசிக்கும் குடிலாகிய உடலுடன்

நாளும் அலைகடல் உலகில் அலம் வரு கலக ஐவர் தமக்கு உடைந்து தடுமாறி ( nALumalai kadal ulagil alam varu kalaga aivar thamakku udainthu thadumARi) : Every day, in this world that is surrounded by swirling oceans, these five sensory organs create mental turmoil, leaving me agitated and heart-broken; அலம் (alam) : சஞ்சலம்;

இடர் படும் அடிமை உளம் உரை உடலொடு எல்லை விட (idarpadum adimai uLam urai udalodu ellai vida ) : In order for this miserable lowly person to get out of depraved life, led through mind, speech and action, வருத்தங்களுக்கு ஆளாகின்ற அடிமையாகிய நான் மனம், வாக்கு, காயம் - இவை மூன்றும் முடிவு பெற்றொழிய ; (ப்ரபஞ்ச) எல்லை விட((prapanja) ellai vida ) : உலகத்தில் ஈடுபடுதல் முடிவு பெற்றொழிய ; to get out of range of the influence of mind, body and speech;

ப்ரபஞ்ச மயல் தீர (prapanja mayaltheera) : and put an end to delusionary worldly affairs,

எனது அற நினது கழல் பெற (enathu aRa ninathu kazhal peRa) : to sever the attachment arising from my egoism and to attain Your hallowed feet,

மவுன எல்லை குறிப்பது ஒன்று புகல்வாயே (mavuna ellai kuRippa thonRu pugalvAyE) : kindly teach me a lesson indicating the frontier of silence and tranquility. மவுன எல்லை (mavuna ellai) : ஞான நிலை;

வடம் அணி முலையும் அழகிய முகமும் (vadam aNi mulaiyum azhagiya mugamum ) : VaLLi's bejewelled bosoms and her pretty face,

வள்ளை என தயங்கும் இரு காதும் (vaLLai ena ththayangum iru kAthum) : her creeper-like delicate ears, வள்ளை: காதுக்கு உவமை சொல்லப்படும் ஒரு கொடியின் பூ; தயங்கும்: விளங்கும்;

மரகத வடிவும் மடல் இடை எழுதி (maragatha vadivu madal idai ezhuthi) : and her emerald green complexion – You sketched them all on a lotus leaf,

வள்ளி புனத்தில் நின்ற மயில் வீரா (vaLLi punaththil ninRa mayil veerA) : and stood there at the millet field, Oh valorous One mounting the peacock!

விடதர் அதி குணர் சசிதரர் நிமலர் (vidathar athi guNar sasi tharar nimalar) : He holds poison in His neck; He is extremely virtuous; He has placed the crescent moon on His tresses; He is unblemished; விடதர்: விடத்தைத் தரித்தவர்

வெள்ளி மலை சயம்பு குருநாதா (veLLi malai sayambu gurunAthA ) : His abode is the silvery mount KailAsh where He materialised as a 'lingA'; You are the Master of that Lord SivA!

விகசிதம் கமல பரிபுர முளரி ( vikasitha kamala paripura muLari) : Your feet are like the freshly blossomed lotus; they are wearing the anklets;

வெள்ளி கரத்து அமர்ந்த பெருமாளே.(veLLi karaththu amarntha perumALE.) : You have chosen Your abode at VeLLigaram, Oh Great One!

The Boundary of Silence : மவுன எல்லை

Our journey in this world began with the sound and will end in silence. To hear God, one must hush one’s inner – and outer – jabbering of the mind. The Self is not revealed to anyone whose senses are not still and whose mind is not quietened. When the five senses are stilled, and thinking has ceased, when even the intellect does not stir, then one has reached the highest state of silence. When one becomes silent and gazes into the inner darkness, the mind slowly settles into increasingly subtle levels of awareness and the inner light breaks through.

Universal consciousness Or Brahman is absolute, eternal and – silent. Silence represents Oneness and Sound represents duality. In the state of silence, urge to know (தன்னை அறிதல் ) is latent. When the urge manifested, it produced sound. Sound then expanded over all creation and permeated through Nature's journey of evolution from Infinite Unconsciousness to Infinite and pure Consciousness. Pure Consciousness is the source of all creation. Sound is the nature of maya. Sound is not separate from silence. While silence is the nature of God, sound is quest for Self-knowledge.
