எத்தனை கோடி போனது அளவு ஏதோ (eththanai kOdi pOnadh aLavEdhO) : How many millions of births have occurred thus? Is there any account? எத்தனையோ கோடிப் பிறப்புகள் வந்து போய் விட்டன.இதற்கு அளவும் உண்டோ?

இப்படி மோக போகம் இப்படி ஆகி ஆகி (ippadi mOha bOgam ippadi Agi Agi) : Being subjected to passion and pleasure, this life goes through so many cycles of births and deaths.

இப்படி ஆவது ஏது (ippadi Avadhu Edhu) : What is the use of being born again and again?

இனிமேல் ஓ(யோ)சித்திடில் சீசி சீசி குத்திர மாய மாயை (inimEl Osiththidil cheechi cheechi kuththira mAya maya) : If one pauses to think about this, it is so despicable; and this life is nothing but a crafty delusion. குத்திரம் (kuththiram) : craftiness, subtlety, knavery, falsehood, cruelty, குரூரம் வஞ்சகம், பொய்;

சிக்கினில் ஆயும் மாயும் அடியேனை (sikkinil Ayum mAyum adiyEnai) : I have been snared into this life, and eventually I have to die.

சித்தினில் ஆடலோடு (chiththinil AdalOdu ) : You must make me dance on the Stage of Knowledge; அறிவு என்னும் மேடையிலே ஆட்டுவித்து (பயில்வித்து)

முத்தமிழ் வாணர் ஓது சித்திர ஞான பாதம் அருள்வாயே ( muththamizh vANar Odhu chiththira nyAna pAdham aruLvAyE) : and You must grant me Your lotus feet of Wisdom, that are praised by scholars and experts in the three aspects of Tamil. மூன்று தமிழ்த் துறைகளிலும் வல்ல புலவர்கள் பாடிப் பரவுகின்ற அழகிய ஞான மயமான திருவடியைத் தந்தருளுக.

நித்தமும் ஓதுவார்கள் சித்தமெ வீடதாக (niththamum OdhuvArgaL chiththame veedu adhAga) : You reside in the hearts of those who sing Your glory everyday;

நிர்த்தமது ஆடும் ஆறுமுகவோனே (nirththamadhu Adum ARu mugavOnE) : and You dance in their hearts, Oh ShaNmugA.

நிட்கள ரூபர் பாதி பச்சுருவான (nitkaLa rUpar pAdhi pachcha uruvAna) : One who is formless and is also full of form, one half of whose body is colored emerald green; நிட்களம் = அருவம்; ரூபம் = உருவம்; பாதி பச்சு உருவான = பாதி உருவம் பச்சை நிறமான;

மூணு நெட்டிலை சூல பாணி அருள்பாலா (mUNu nettilai sUla pANi aruLbAlA) : and One who holds a Trident with three long leaf-like prongs, that SivA - He has gifted You as His son! மூன்று நீண்ட இலைகளை உள்ள சூலத்தை கையில் ஏந்தியவள் பெற்ற குழந்தையே; மூணு நெட்டிலை = மூன்று நீண்ட இலைகளை உடைய;

பைத்தலை நீடும் ஆயிரத்தலை மீது (paiththalai needum Ayiraththalai meedhu) : Adhiseshan's thousand large cobra-hoods, பைத்தலை (paiththalai) : படத்தைத் தலையில் உடைய (நாகம்); இங்கு ஆயிரம் தலைகளை உடைய ஆதிசேடனைக் குறித்து நின்றது.;

பீறு பத்திர பாத நீல மயில் வீரா (peeRu paththira pAdha neela mayilveerA ) : are gashed by Your blue peacock with its sharp sword-like nails, oh, warrior riding the peacock! பத்திரம் (paththiram) : வாள்; பத்திர பாதம் (paththira pAtham) : நொச்சி இலை போன்ற பாதம் (அல்லது) வாள் போன்ற நகக் கால்களை உடைய; பீறுதல் = கிழித்தல்; ; ஆதிசேடனது படங்கொண்ட ஆயிரம் தலைகளின் மேலே கீறிக் கிழிக்கும் நொச்சியிலை போன்ற கால்களை உடைய அல்லது வாள் போன்ற நகக் கால்களை உடைய நீல மயில் வீரனே;

பச்சிள பூக பாளை (pachchiLa pUga pALai) : On the newly sprouted branches of the tall betelnut trees,

செய்க் கயல் தாவு வேளூர் (seyk kayal thAvu vELUr) : kayal fish jump from the watery fields at VELUr, வயலில் உள்ள கயல் மீன்கள் தாவுகின்ற வேளூரில்

பற்றிய மூவர் தேவர் பெருமாளே.(patriya mUvar dhEvar perumALE.) : in which place reside with relish, the Trinity (BrahmA, Vishnu and SivA) who worship You, Oh Great One!

வைத்தீஸ்வரன் கோவில் பற்றிய குறிப்பு

வைத்தீஸ்வரன் கோயிலுக்கு புள்ளிருக்கு வேளூர் என்ற பெயரும் உண்டு. புள் – சடாயு என்ற பறவையும், இருக்கு – ருக் என்ற வேதமும் வேள் – முருகப்பெருமானும், ஊர் – சூரியனும் இறைவனை வழிபட்டு அருள் பெற்ற காரணத்தால் இத்தலப்பெயர் புள்ளிருக்கு வேளூர் என்று பெயர் வந்தது. மற்ற கோயில்களில் நவக்கிரக சன்னதி சிவபெருமான் சன்னதியின் முன்பக்கமாகவே அமைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும். இங்கு மட்டுமே பின்பக்கம் உள்ளது.மேலும், இங்கு நவக்கிரகங்கள் ஒரே நேர்கோட்டில் வரிசையில் காணப்படுகின்றன. ஒரே நேர்கோட்டில் நின்று வைத்தியநாதருக்கு அடங்கி, கிரக பலனை பக்தர்களுக்கு சாதகமாக்கி நோய் மற்றும் தோஷங்களை நீக்குவதாக நம்பிக்கை.
