Paraphrase

உடையவர்கள் ஏவர் எவர்களென நாடி (udaiyavargaL Evar evargaLena nAdi ) : Searching for and seeking the haves (wealthy people),

உளமகிழ ஆசுகவி பாடி (uLa magizha Asu kavi pAdi) : I make them happy, singing lyrical poems,

உமது புகழ் மேரு கிரியளவும் ஆனது என (umathu pugazh mEru giri aLavumAnathu ena) : praising that their fame is comparable to the lofty Mount MEru,

உரமுமான மொழி பேசி நடை பழகி மீள வறியவர்கள் (uramumAna mozhipEsi nadai pazhagi meeLa vaRiyavargaL) : flatter them thus, yet return poor and empty-handed; வலிமையான துதி மொழிகளைப் பேசியும், நடந்து நடந்து பழகியும், தரித்திரர்களாகவே மீளும்படி, வறியவர்கள் மீள(vaRiyavargaL meeLa ) : return as poor or destitute; வறியவர்கள்: destitute;

நாளை நடவுமென வாடி முகம் வேறாய் (nALai nadavumena vAdi mugam vERAy) : and my face becomes pale, hearing the words "come tomorrow"

நலியுமுனமே உன் அருண ஒளி வீசு நளின இரு பாதம் அருள்வாயே (naliyumunamE un aruNa oLi veesu naLina iru pAtham aruLvAyE) : and my heart despairs; before this happens, kindly grant me Your lotus feet that radiates reddish glow; நளின ( naLina ) : lotus-like;

விடை கொளுவு பாகர் விமலர் திரி சூலர் விகிர்தர் பர யோகர் (vidaikoLuvu pAgar vimalar thiri sUlar vigirthar para yOgar) : The Lord who mounts the bull (Nandi), the Pure, the Holder of Trishul or trident, Unique and the Supreme Yogi; விகிர்தர் (vigirthar) : God or someone with unique actions or capabilities;

நிலவோடே விளவு சிறு பூளை நகுதலையொடு ஆறு விட அரவு சூடும் (nilavOdE viLavu siRu pULai nakuthalaiyodu ARu vidavaravu chUdum ) : and wears the crescent moon, vilvam (bael) leaf, little pULai (Indian laburnum) flower, the skull with teeth, the river Ganga and the poisonous snake; விளவு (viLavu ) : vilva; நகுதலை (naguthalai) : skull with teeth;

அதிபாரச் சடை இறைவர் காண (athi bhara sadai iRaivar kANa) : on His weighty tresses; and while that SivA is watching,

உமை மகிழ ஞான தளர் நடையிடா முன் வருவோனே (umai magizha gnAna thaLar nadai idAmun varuvOnE) : and to the delight of Mother UmA, You walk before them in gentle gait reflecting wisdom!

தவ மலரு நீல மலர் சுனை (thavamalaru neela malar sunai) : (This place has) a pond where blue lilies blossom in plenty; தவமலரும் = மிகுதியாக/அடர்ந்து மலர்கின்ற, தவம் = காடு;

அநாதி தணி மலை உலாவு பெருமாளே (anAthi thaNimalai ulAvu perumALE) : and this is the ancient Mount ThiruththaNigai without a beginning, which is Your abode, Oh Great One!
