மூப்பு உற்று செவி கேட்பு அற்று பெரு மூச்சு உற்று செயல் தடுமாறி (mUpputRu chevi kEtpatRu peru mUchchutRu seyal thadumARi ) : As age advances, ears lose their ability to hear, the body pants and sighs, and every action becomes unsteady

மூர்க்க சொல் குரல் காட்டி கக்கிட மூக்குக்கு உள் சளி (ஈ)ளையோடும் (mUrgga chol kural kAtti kakkida mUkkukkuL chaLi iLaiyOdum ) : the speech exposes vile temper and lets out angry words; the nose discharges mucus which gets mixed with the phlegm from the chest,

கோப்பு கட்டி இனா பிச்சு எற்றிடு கூட்டில் புக்கு உயிர் அலையா முன் (kOppu katti inA pichchu etRidu kUttil pukkuyir alaiyAmun) : and they travel threaded together in the body causing misery; Before my prana goes helter skelter in the body meeting its end, கோப்பு கட்டி (kOppu katti) : (சளியும் கோழையும்) ஒன்று சேர்ந்து; இனா பிச்சு எற்றிடு கூட்டில் (inA pichchu etRidu kUttil ) : துன்பத்தைத் தரும் பித்தம் ஏறி வருத்தும் இந்த உடம்பில் ; இனா - இன்னா; துன்பம்; பிச்சு = பித்தம் OR இனாப்பி செற்றிடு கூட்டில் (inA pichchu EtRidu kUttil ) : துன்பம் உண்டாக்கி வருத்தும் உடல்; இனாப்பி = துன்பமுண்டாக்குதல்;;

காப்பு பொன் கிரி கோட்டி பற்று அலர் காப்பை கட்டவர் குருநாதா (kAppu poR giri kOtti patRu alar kAppai kattavar gurunAthA ) : You are the Guru to Lord Shiva who bent the Mount Meru ('Pon giri') like a bow and destroyed the fortresses of the enemies (at Thiripuram); உலகிற்குக் காவலாக அமைந்துள்ள பொன் மேரு கிரியை வில்லாக வளைத்து (தேவர்களுடைய) பகைவராகிய முப்புரத்தாருடைய அரண் மதிலை அழித்த சிவபிரானுடைய குருநாதரே! காப்பு பொன் கிரி (kappu pon giri) : the golden mountain ('Meru') that stands as a sentry/sentinel; பூதலத்துக்கு நடுத்தூணாக ஆதாரமாக இருப்பது மேருமலை. அதனை திரிபுர தகன காலத்தில் சிவபெருமான் வில்லாகப் பிடித்து வளைத்தார். பற்று அலர் (patru alar ) : enemies; கட்டவர் (kattavar) : one who destroys; காப்பை கட்டவர் (kAppai kattavar) : அரண்களை அழித்தவர்;

காட்டுக்குள் குறவாட்டிக்கு பல காப்பு குத்திரம் மொழிவோனே (kAttukkuL kuRa vAttikku pala kAppu kuththiram mozhivOnE) : You spoke several cajoling words to VaLLi, the damsel of the KuRavAs in the forest, as if You needed her protection! காட்டுக்குள் குறவாட்டியாம் வள்ளியிடம் பலவாறாக வஞ்சகச் சொற்களைச் (என்னை நீ காத்தருள் போன்ற வார்த்தைகளை) சொன்னவனே! குத்திரம் = வஞ்சகம்;

வாய்ப்பு உற்ற தமிழ் மார்க்க திண் பொருள் வாய்க்கு சித்திர முருகோனே (vAyppu utRa thamizh mArgath thiN poruL vAykku chiththira murugOnE ) : In an appropriate interpretation of the Tamil composition dealing with the Lord, You (as Rudrasanman) gave the true meaning marvellously, Oh MurugA! (Thiruvilaiyadal story); செழிப்புற்ற தமிழ் அகப்பொருள் துறையின் திண்ணிய (உறுதியான) பொருளின் வாய்மைக்கு (அகப்பொருள் துறையின் உண்மை விளக்கத்துக்கு), (உருத்திர சன்மராய் உதவிய) அழகிய முருகனே ; வாய்ப்பு உற்ற — செழிப்புற்ற; வாய் –வாய்மை; வாய்க்கு சித்திர – உண்மையிதுவே என்று அழகுறத் தெளிவுபடுத்திய;

வார்த்தை சிற்பர தீர்த்த சுற்று அலை வாய்க்குள் பொற்பு அமர் பெருமாளே. (vArththai chiRpara theerththa chutRu alaivAykuL poRpu amar perumALE. ) : You are beyond the comprehension of speech and intellect! Your abode is in Tiruchendur, surrounded by holy waters, Oh Great One! சொல்லுக்கும் அறிவுக்கும் எட்டாத கடவுளே! (புனித) தீர்த்தமாய்ச் சுற்றியுள்ள கடலின் கரையில் (திருச்செந்துாரில்) அழகுடன் அமர்ந்துள்ள பெருமாளே!
