வரி கலையின் நிகரான விழி கடையில் இளைஞோரை மயக்கிவிடும் மடவார்கள் மயலாலே (varikkalayi nigarAna vizhikkadaiyil iLainyOrai mayakkiyidu madavArgaL mayalAlE) : From the corner of their doe-like eyes, these girls ensnare the youth; வரிகளோடு கூடிய கலைமானைப் போன்ற கடைக்கண் பார்வையால், இளைஞர்களை மயக்கமடையச் செய்யும் விலைமகளிரது மயக்கத்தாலே, வரி கலை(மான்)(kalai(maan)) : antelope with lines in the body;

மதி குளறி உள்ள காசும் அவர்க்கு உதவி மிடியாகி வயிற்றில் எரி மிக மூள (madhikkuLaRi uLa kAsum avarkkudhavi midiyAgi vayitrileri migamULa) : who lose their senses thereby, become impoverished by giving away their money and possessions, and as a result their stomachs burned;

அதனாலே ஒருத்தருடன் உறவாகி ஒருத்தரோடு பகையாகி (adhanAlE oruththarudan uRavAgi oruththarodu pagaiyAgi) : Due to that fire, I became friendly with some and turned hostile to some;

ஒருத்தர் தமை மிக நாடி அவரோடே (oruththar thamai miganAdi) : and yet again, I got exceedingly attached to a few others;

உணக்கை இடு படு பாவி எனக்கு உனது கழல் பாட உயர்ச்சி பெறு குண சீலம் அருள்வாயே (avarOdE uNakkaiyidu padupAvi enakkunadhu kazhalpAda uyarcchipeRu guNaseelam aruLvAy) : and became dejected; Kindly bless this sinner so that I may attain a lofty character and sing the glory of Your feet; உணக்கை இடு (uNakkai) can mean உண்ண கை இடு : that is, extending one's hands for receiving food, or it can mean becoming depressed, வாட்டம் அடைதல்;;

திருக்குலவும் ஒரு நீல மலர் சுனையில் (thirukkulavum oruneela malarchchunaiyil) : In this hallowed place is a beautiful fountain which produces every day a unique violet flower (Neelothpala flower); திருத்தணியில் தினம் மூன்று நீலோற்பல மலர்கள் மலர்கின்ற அழகிய சுனை உள்ளதால் அம்மலை கல்லாரகிரி என்று பேர் பெற்றது.
