ஆலமாய் அவுணருக் கமரருக் கமுதமாய்
ஆதவனின் வெம்மைஒளிமீ

தரியதவ முநிவருக் கிந்துவிற் றண்ணென்
றமைந்தன்ப ருக்கு முற்றா

மூலமாம் வினையறுத் தவர்கள்வெம் பகையினை
முடித்திந்தி ரர்க்கு மெட்டா

முடிவிலா நந்தநல் கும்பத மளித்தெந்த
மூதண்ட மும்புகழும் வேல்

ஏலமா யானையின் கோடதிற் சொரிமுத்து
மின்பணைக ளுமிழு முத்தும்

இனிவாடை மான்மதம் அகிலோடு சந்தனம்
இலவங்க நறவமாருந்

தாலமா மரமுதற் பொருள்படைத் திடும்எயினர்
தருவநிதை மகிழ்நன் ஐயன்

தனிநடம் புரிசமர முருகன்அறு முகன்குகன்
சரவணக் குமரன் வேலே.

Lord's vel:

ஆலமாய் அவுணருக்கு அமரருக்கு அமுதமாய் ( aalamaay avuNaruk amararuk amudhamaay) : is like the alahala poison for the demons and like the nectar for the devas,

ஆதவனின் வெம்மை ஒளி மீது அரிய தவமுநிவருக்கு இந்துவின் தண் என்று அமைந்து (aadhavanin vemmai oLimeedhu ariyathava munivaruk indhuvil thaNNendr amaindhu) : and for the sages who perform rare penance and outshine the effulgence of the sun, it gives them the soothing coolness of the moon, சூரியனின் தேஜசை மீறியுள்ள வகையில், செயற்கரிய தவம் செய்து தவக்கினியால் ஜொலிக்கும் ரிஷிகளுக்கு சந்திரனின் குளிர்ச்சியைப்போல் அவர்களின் தவ வெப்பத்தை சமப்படுத்துவதாய் அமைந்து,

அன்பருக்கு முற்றா மூலமாம் வினை அறுத்து (anbarukku mutraa moolamaam vinai aRuthu ) : for the devotees, it terminates the endless cycle of karma, முற்றா மூலமாம் வினை — முடிவு பெறாத மூல காரணமாய் வரும் பழவினை;

அவர்கள் வெம் பகையினை முடித்து (avargaL vem pagaiyinai mudithu) : destroys their internal as well as external conflicts

இந்திரர்க்கும் எட்டா முடிவில் ஆநந்தம் நல்கும் பதம் அளித்து (indhirarkkum ettaa mudivil aanandha nalgum padham aLithu ) : and gives them the eternal and transcendental state of existence

எந்த மூதண்டமும் புகழும் வேல் (endha moodhaNdamum pugazhum vEl) : and is praised in the entire universe.

The following lines decribe the wealth that is obtainable from forests and is owned by Valli who lives in those regions.

ஏல மா யானையின் கோடு அதில் சொரி முத்தும் (Elamaa yaanaiyin kOdadhiR sorimuththum) : The pearls that pour out of the tusks of massive elephants, பொருந்தி இருக்கும் பெரிய யானைத் தந்தத்திலிருந்து உதிரும் முத்தும்;

இன் பணைகள் உமிழும் முத்தும் ( inpaNaigaL umizhu muththum) : the pearls that are spit out by sweet bamboos,

இனி வாடை மான் மதம் அகிலோடு சந்தனம் இலவங்க நறவம் ஆரும் (inivaadai maan madham agilOdu chandhanam ilavanga naRavam aarum) : and pleasurable aroma exuded by kasturi (from deers), agil, sandalwood, cloves, honey

தால மா மரம் முதல் பொருள் படைத்திடும் எயினர் தரு வநிதை மகிழ்நன் ஐயன் (thaalamaa maramudhaR poruL padaith thidum eyinar tharu vanidhai magizhnan aiyan) : and trees such as palm – all these properties are owned by the hunter girl Valli, whom our Lord Murugan has married and is rejoicing with. தாலம் = பனை,

தனிநடம் புரி சமர முருகன் அறுமுகன் குகன் சரவண குமரன் வேலே ( thaninadam puri samara murugan aRumugan guhan saravaNak kumaran vElE) : He dances in His unique style on the battle field. He is the six-faced Arumugan who lives in the caves of our hearts and was born in the Saravana lake.
