வெங்கழு குடன்கொடி பருந்துசெம் புவனத்தில்
வெம்பசி ஒழிக்கவந்தே

ஆதார கமடமுங் கணபண வியாளமும்
அடக்கிய தடக்கிரியெலாம்

அலையநட மிடுநெடுந் தானவர் நிணத்தசை
அருந்திப் புரந்தவைவேல்

தாதார் மலர்ச்சுனைப் பழநிமலை சோலைமலை
தனிப்பரங் குன்றேரகம்

தணிகைசெந் தூரிடைக் கழிஆவி னன்குடி
தடங்கடல் இலங்கைஅதனிற்

போதார் பொழிற்கதிர் காமத் தலத்தினைப்
புகழும்அவ ரவர்நாவினிற்

புந்தியில் அமர்ந்தவன் கந்தன்முரு கன்குகன்
புங்கவன் செங்கை வேலே.

வேதாள பூதமொடு காளி காளாத்ரிகளும் வெகுளுறு பசாச கணமும் (vEthaaLa boothamodu kaaLi kaaLathrigaLum veguLuRu pasaasa gaNamum) : Murugan's army of genies, demons, poisonous fanged naga serpents and angry group of phantoms, பிசாசு, பூதம் இவைகளுடன் காளி, காளாத்ரி என பெயர் பெற்ற விஷப் பற்களை உடைய பாம்பு போல பசிக்கு உணவு கிடைக்கவில்லை என்று கோபம் கொள்ளும் பேய் கூட்டங்களும்

வெம் கழுகுடன் கொடி பருந்து செம் புவனத்தில் வெம்பசி ஒழிக்க வந்தே ( ven kazhugudan kodi parundhu sem buvanaththil vempasi ozhikkavandhE) : (along with) fierce eagles, crows and hawks -- (the vel)came to relieve hunger on this fertile earth;

ஆதார கமடமும் கணபண வியாளமும் அடக்கிய தடக்கிரி எலாம் (aadhaara kamadamum gaNapaNa viyaaLamum adakkiya thadak giriyelaam) : all the mountains that are supported by the turtle and the thousand-headed serpent Adisesha that bears the earth; மந்த்ரமலையை தாங்கின ஆமையும் கூட்டமான படங்களை உடைய பாம்பும் விசாலமான பெரிய மலைகளில் எல்லாம் கமடம் (kamadam) : tortoise;

அலைய நடமிடு நெடுந் தானவர் நிணத்தசை அருந்திப் புரந்த வைவேல் (alaiya nadamidu nedun dhaanavar niNaththasai arundhi purandha vaivEl) : the sharp lance chased the demons, feasted on their flesh and protected the devas; அலைந்து நடமாடும் பெரிய அசுரர் கூட்டங்களின் மாமிச சதைகளை உண்டு தேவர்களை காத்த கூரிய வேல் (எது என்றால்)
