Paraphrase

In this verse, Saint Arunagirinathar declares that the only route to salvation is through total surrender to the Lord and not through extravagant and flamboyant ritualistic worship. Only when the seeker beseeches passionately with tears in his eyes will the Lord come forward eagerly and embrace him into His blissful fold.

ஆராதனர் ஆடம்பரத்து (ArAdhanar Adambaraththu) : (The Lord will not be impressed by) The pretentious offerings during worship, பூஜை செய்வோர்களின் ஆடம்பத் தோற்றங்களை கண்டும்:

மாறாது சவ(ப) ஆலம்பனத்தும் (mARAdhu sav(ba Alambanaththum) : the non-stop and fanatic repetition of mantras, இடைவிடாது செய்யும் ஜெபத்தில் உள்ள ஆசையினாலும் ; மாறாது - இடைவிடாது; ஆமாறு - (ஹோமாதிகளுக்கு) ஆகும் படி; ஆலம்பனம் = பற்றுக்கோடு; எதன் துணைக்கொண்டு இறைவனை த்யானிக்கிறோமோ அது ஆலம்பனம் எனப்படும். உதாரணமாக, லிங்கத்தின் துணைக் கொண்டு சிவனை த்யானிக்கும் பொழுது லிங்கம் ஆலம்பனம் ஆகிறது. அதுப்போல் ஓம் என்ற எழுத்தின் துணைக்கொண்டு ப்ரஹ்மனை த்யானிக்கும் பொழுது ஓம் ஆலம்பனம் ஆகிறது. ;

ஆவாகன மாமந்திரத்து மடலாலும் (AvAgana mA manthiraththu madalAlum) : the various yantras (metal sheets) upon which the deities are invoked, தெய்வம் எழுந்தருள வேண்டி எழுதப் படும் சிறந்த மந்திரங்களைக் கொண்ட தகடு, தாயத்து வகைகளைக் கண்டும்;

ஆறார் தெச மாமண்டபத்தும் (ARAr dhesa mA maNdapaththum) : the grandiose prayer halls with sixteen stone pillars, பதினாறு கால்கள் கொண்ட சிறந்த மண்டபக் காட்சியாலும்

வேத ஆகமம் ஓதும் தலத்தும் (vEdha Agamam Odhum thalaththum) : mammoth halls where VEdAs and AgamAs are chanted loudly, வேதம் ஆகமம் இவை முழங்கும் இடத்தைக் கண்டும்

ஆமாறு எரி தாம் இந்தனத்து மருளாதே (AmARu eri dhAm indhanaththu maruLAdhE) : accompanied by heaps of tiny sticks (samiththu) offered in the prescribed manner to burn in the sacrifices - You are swayed by none of these, யாகாதிகளுக்கு ஆகும்படி எரி பாயும் சமித்து ஆகிய சுள்ளிகளை கண்டு பிரமித்து மருட்சி கொள்ளாமல் ; ஆமாறு = ஆகும் வழி, உபாயம், proper manner of doing a thing; இந்தனம் = சமித்து, firewood, fuel;

நீராளக நீர் மஞ்சனத்த (neerALaga neer manjanaththa) : You are delighted to bathe in the abundant tears of ecstasy (from Your devotees)! நீராள(க)ம்(neerALa(ga)m) : நீருடன் கலந்த உணவு, நீர் பெருக்கு; நீர் (neer) : tears (of devotees); (அடியார்களுடைய) கண்ணீர்; மஞ்சனத்த (manjanaththa) : அபிஷேகம் கொள்பவனே;

நீள் தாரக (neeL thAraga) : You represent the primordial PraNava ManthrA, OM! சிறப்பு மிக்க தாரக மந்திர்த்துக்கு ஒம் என்னும் பிரணவ மந்திரத்துக்கு உரியவனே!

வேதண்ட மத்த (vEdhaNda maththa) : You take delight in the mountainous regions! வேதண்டம் – யானை/மலை; வேதண்ட – மலைகளுக்கு உரியவனே (குறிஞ்சி வேந்தனே); மத்த – அதிகம் உற்சாகம் உள்ளவனே;

நீ நான் அற வேறின்றி நிற்க (nee nAn aRa vERu indri niRka) : In order that You and I mingle as one single entity,

நியமாக நீ வா என நீ இங்கு அழைத்து (niyamAga nee vA ena nee ingu azhaiththu) : You should beckon me towards You with friendly affinity, நியமாக (niyamaaga) : அன்னியம் இல்லாத உறவு மனத்துடன்;

பாராவர ஆநந்த சித்தி ( pArAvara Anandha sidhdhi) : offer me the blissful heaven as wide as the ocean and பாராவரம்/பாரா வாரம்/வாரி (paraavaram) : கடல் போன்ற;

நேரே பரமாநந்த முத்தி தரவேணும் (nErE paramAnandha muththi thara vENum) : immediately bestow on me the Supreme joy of Liberation!

வீராகர ( veerAkara) : You are the seat of valour!

சாமுண்டி சக்ர பாராகண பூதங் களிக்க (chAmundi chakra pArAgaNa bUthan kaLikka) : Mother Durga and the multitude of Her armies (bUthaganAs), strategically deployed, were delighted; சக்ர பாராகண பூதம் (chakra pArAgaNa bUtham) : சக்ரயூகமாக வகுக்கப்பட்டு நிற்கும் காவல் கணங்களான பூதங்கள்; patrol

வேதாள சமூகம் பிழைக்க அமராடி (vEthALa samUgam pizhaikka amarAdi) : and the herd of (corpse-eating) fiends were revitalized when You fought in the battlefield! பேய்க் கூட்டங்கள் (பிணங்களை உண்டு) பிழைக்கும்படி சண்டை செய்து

வேதா முறையோ என்று அரற்ற ( vEdhA muRaiyO endru aratra) : BrahmA lamented in fear;

ஆகாச கபாலம் பிளக்க (AkAsa kapAlam piLakka) : the skies hovering over the worlds were shattered;

வேர் மாமர மூலம் தறித்து (vEr mA mara mUlam thaRiththu) : the mango tree, in which SUran disguised himself, was uprooted;

வடவாலும் வாராகரம் ஏழும் குடித்து (vadavAlum vArAgaram Ezhum kudiththu) : the vadavAgni and the seven seas were completely swallowed; vadavAgni is the avalanche of fire supposed to come from the north pole to devour the entire world at the time of pralaya.

மா சூரொடு போர் அம்பு அறுத்து ( mA sUrOdu pOr ambu aRuththu) : in the battle with mighty SUran, all his arrows were chopped;

வாணாசன மேலும் துணித்த கதிர்வேலா (vANAsana mElum thuNiththa kadhirvElA) : and, in addition, his bow, the source of the arrows, was lanced by Your dazzling Spear! வா(பா)ணாசனம்(vANAsanam) : பாணங்களுக்கு ஆசனமாகிய வில்;

வானாடு அரசாளும் படிக்கு வாவா என வா என்று அழைத்து (vAnAdu arasALum padikku vAvAvena vAvendru azhaiththu) : To rule their Celestial land, You beckoned the DEvAs again and again

வானோர் பரிதாபம் தவிர்த்த பெருமாளே. ( vAnOr parithApam thavirththa perumALE.) : and redressed their misery, Oh Great One!
