Paraphrase

Lord's twin feet are the personification of the Eternal Knowledge. They are the sword that can slash the messengers of Yama and are beyond the reach of religious firebrands.

எதிர் ஒருவர் இலையுலகில் என (edhir oruvar ilai ulagil ena) : People who boast that there is none in the world to match them,

அலகு சிலுகு விருதிட்டு க்ரியைக்கே எழுந்து (alagu silugu virudhittu kriyaikkE ezhundhu) : raise their flag of sharp debating skills and challenge others; கூர்மையான வாதப்போருக்கு கொடிகட்டி, அத்தகைய செய்கைக்கே துணிந்து எழுந்து, சிலுகு(silugu) : quarrel;

பாரின் இடை உழல்வ சுழலுவன சமயவித (pArin idai uzhalva suzhaluvana samayavidha) : these religious fanatics of all kinds roaming around in this world, இப்பூமியின் இடையில் அலைந்து திரியும் எல்லாவிதமான சமயவாதிகளாலும் ,

சகல கலை எட்டெட்டும் எட்டாத மந்த்ரவாளால் (sakala kalai ettettum ettAdha manthravALAl) : as well as all the sixty-four arts are unable to attain the tranquility which is in the form of a sword of ManthrA; with that sword, எல்லாவகையான அறுபத்து நான்கு கலைகளாலும் எட்ட முடியாத சாந்தியான தனி ஞான வாள் கொண்டு,

விதி வழியின் உயிர் கவர வரு கொடிய யமபடரை வெட்டித் துணித்து ஆண்மை கொண்டு ( vidhi vazhiyin uyir kavara varu kodiya yama padarai vettith uNiththu ANmai koNdu) : I shall sever and cut off the messengers of the God of Death who come to grab my life as destined by my fate and assert my manly resolve.

நீபம் விளவின் இள இலை தளவு குவளை கமழ் (neepam viLavin iLa ilaithaLavu kuvaLai kamazh ) : Your hallowed feet of coral hue, decorated with fragrant kadappa flowers, the tender leaves of viLA, blue lilies and கடப்பமலர், விளாவின் இளம் தளிர், முல்லை, கருங்குவளை இவற்றின் மணம் கமழும்; தளவு(thaLavu) : முல்லை, ஊசிமல்லிகை;

பவள நிற வெட்சித் திருத்தாள் வணங்குவேனோ (pavaLa niRa vetchith thiruththAL vaNanguvEnO) : the reddish vetchi flowers: will I be able to prostrate at these auspicious feet and worship them?

திதி புதல்வரொடு பொருது குருதி நதி முழுகி ஒளிர் (thithi pudhalvarodu porudhu kurudhinadhi muzhugi oLir ) : Fighting with the demons (sons of Thithi) and bathed in the river of their blood

செக்கச் செவத்தேறு செங்கை வேலா (chekkach chevaththERu sengai vElA) : Your spear became blood red in colour; You hold that Spear in Your reddish hand!

சிகர கிரி தகர விடும் உருவ (sikaragiri thagaravidum uruva) : With Your majestic form, You destroyed the crest of Mount Krouncha and turned it into powder! சிகரங்களை உடைய கிரெளஞ்சகிரியைப் பொடிபடச் செய்த உருவத்தோனே ,

மரகத கலப சித்ரக் ககத்தேறும் எம்பிரானே (maragatha kalaba chithrak kagaththERum embirAnE) : Oh Lord, You mount the beautiful bird, Peacock, with an emerald-green hue! ககம்(kagam) : bird (peacock);

முதிய பதினொரு விடையர் (mudhiya pathinoru vidaiyar) : The ancient RudrAs numbering eleven, The Rudras, or the Maruts born to Kashyapa and Aditi, are Vedic gods of storms and tempests. They are part of Lord Shiva's retinue (siva ganas).

முடுகுவன பரி ககன முட்டச் செலுத்து ஆறிரண்டு தேரர் (muduguvana parigagana muttach cheluth AR irandu thErar) : the twelve Suns, with their chariots attached with galloping horses who drive them around in the skies, முடுகிச் செலுத்தப்படும் குதிரைகளை ஆகாயத்தில் நன்கு செலுத்துகின்ற பன்னிரண்டு தேர்களை உடைய பன்னிரு சூரியர்கள்; ககனம் (gaganam) : sky;

மொழியும் இரு அசுவினிகள் (mozhiyum iru asuvinigaL) : the two prescribing celestial physicians called Aswini DEvAs, மருத்துவ நூல்களைச் சொல்லிய இரண்டு அசுவினி தேவர்களும்; சூரியனுக்கும் உஷா தேவிக்கும் பிறந்த குழந்தைகளாகிய குதிரை முகம் கொண்ட அஸ்வினி குமாரர்கள் தேவலோக மருத்துவர்கள்.,

இருசதுவித வசுவெனு (irusadhu vidha vasuvenu) : and the eight vasus, all of whom comprise அட்ட வசுக்கள் என்பவர்கள் மனுவின் மைந்தனான பிரஜாபதியின் எட்டு மகன்கள் ஆவர். இந்த அஷ்ட (எட்டு) வசுக்களில் பிரபாசன் எனும் வசு தனது மனைவியின் விருப்பத்தை நிறைவேற்றுவதற்காக, வசிட்டரின் காமதேனு பசுவை கவர்ந்து செல்கையில், வசிட்டரால் சாபம் பெற்று மண்ணுலகில், சாந்தனு - கங்கை தம்பதியர்க்கு பீஷ்மராக பிறந்தார்.
