குருதி தோலினால் மேவு குடிலில் ஏதம் ஆம் ஆவி குலைய ( kuruthi thOlinAl mEvu kudilil Etham Am Avi kulaiya) : This cottage of a body is made up of blood and skin; when life degenerates and is about to depart from the body, ஏதம் = துன்பம், குற்றம், கேடு, தீமை

ஏமனால் ஏவி விடு காலன் கொடிய பாசம் ஓர் சூல படையினோடு கூசாத கொடுமை நோய்கொடே கோலி எதிரா முன் (EmanAl Evi vidu kAlan kodiya pAsam Or sUla padaiyinOdu kUsAtha kodumai nOykodE kOli ethirA mun) : and before the messenger KAlan, sent by Yaman, the God of Death, comes with the evil rope of bondage and his unique weapon, the trident, and harasses me unflinchingly with unbearable diseases and besieges me oppressively, யம தர்மனால் அனுப்பப்பட்டு வருகின்ற காலன் என்ற தூதன் கொடுமை வாய்ந்த பாசக் கயிறு, ஒப்பற்ற சூலப் படை இவைகளோடு வந்து கூச்சமில்லாமல், பொல்லாத துன்ப நோய்களைத் தந்து, வளைத்திருந்து என்னை எதிர்ப்பதன் முன்பு,

மருது நீறு அதாய் வீழ வலி செய் மாயன் வேய் ஊதி (maruthu neeRu athAy veezha vali sey mAyan vEy Uthi) : He is the mystic one who displayed His valour that uprooted the marutha tree; He plays the flute; மருத மரம் வேரற்றுச் சிதறி விழும்படி தன் வலிமையைக் காட்டிய மாயவன், புல்லாங் குழலை வாசிப்பவன்,

மடுவில் ஆனை தான் மூலம் என ஓடி வரு முராரி கோபாலர் மகளிர் கேள்வன் (maduvil Anai thAn mUlam ena Odi varu murAri gOpAlar makaLir kELvan) : when the elephant (GajEndran) in the pond screamed "Oh Primordial Lord" and sought refuge, He came flying to its rescue; He is MurAri, the enemy of the demon Muran; He is the consort of the GopikA girls of the clan of cowherds; கோபாலர் மகளிர் கேள்வன் (gOpAlar makaLir kELvan) : husband of the daughters of the cowherds; இடை மகளிர்களின் கணவன்;

மாதாவின் வசனமோ மறா கேசன் மருகோனே (mAthAvin vasanamO maRA kEsan marugOnE) : He is KEsavan who, as Rama, obeyed the command of His mother (KaikEyi) and willingly went to the forest; You are the nephew of that Lord VishNu!

கருத ஒணாத ஞான ஆதி எருதில் ஏறு காபாலி ( karutha oNAtha njAna Athi eruthil ERu kApAli) : He is in the form of inconceivable Knowledge; He mounts the bull, Rishabam; He holds in His hand the skull (of BrahmA); எண்ணுதற்கு அரிய ஞான மூர்த்தியும், ரிஷபத்தில் ஏறுபவரும், (பிரம்ம) கபாலத்தைக் கையில் ஏந்தியவரும்,

கடிய பேயினோடு ஆடி கருதார் வெம் கனலில் மூழ்கவே நாடி புதல்வ (kadiya pEyinOdu Adi karuthAr vem kanalil mUzhkavE nAdi puthalva) : He dances along with evil devils; those (in Thiripuram) who ignored Him (by not offering worship) were all drowned in wild fire by His will; You are the son of that Lord SivA! கடுமை வாய்ந்த பேய்களுடன் ஆடுபவரும், தன்னை மறந்து (சிவ பூசையைக் கைவிட்ட திரிபுரத்தில்) இருந்த அனைவரும் கொடிய நெருப்பில் முழுகும்படி நாடியவரும் ஆகிய சிவபெருமானுடைய மகனே,

காரண அதீத கருணை மேருவே தேவர் பெருமாளே.(kAraNa atheetha karuNai mEruvE thEvar perumALE.) : You are beyond all causes; Your compassion is like the huge mountain MEru! You are the Lord of the celestials, Oh Great One!
