பரவு நெடுங்கதி ருலகில் விரும்பிய
பவனி வரும்படி	யதனாலே
பகர வளங்களு நிகர விளங்கிய
இருளை விடிந்தது	நிலவாலே
வரையினி லெங்கணு முலவி நிறைந்தது
வரிசை தரும்பத	மதுபாடி
வளமொடு செந்தமி ழுரைசெய அன்பரு
மகிழ வரங்களு	மருள்வாயே
அரஹர சுந்தர அறுமுக என்றுனி
அடியர் பணிந்திட	மகிழ்வோனே
அசலநெ டுங்கொடி அமையுமை தன்சுத
குறமக ளிங்கித	மணவாளா
கருதரு திண்புய சரவண குங்கும
களபம ணிந்திடு	மணிமார்பா
கனக மிகும்பதி மதுரை வளம்பதி
யதனில் வளர்ந்தருள்	பெருமாளே.

Paraphrase

The poet wishes to sing in chaste Tamil about His holy feet that suffuse numerous mountains that are His abodes, spreading light like the sun and the moon. Murugan's feet have the radiance of the sun and the moon, disburse prosperity and dispel the darkness of ignorance. The poet desires that his songs eulogizing the Lord's feet should be sung by the Lord's devotees so that they too can flourish materially as well as attain salvation.

பரவு நெடும் கதிர் உலகில் விரும்பிய பவனி வரும்படி அதனாலே (paravu nedum kadhir ulagil virumbiya bavani varumpadi adhanAlE) : Like the venerated Sun that spreads its long beams and promenades round the earth to the delight of the people in the world, பரவு நெடும் கதிர்(paravu nedum kadhir) : எல்லோராலும் போற்றப்படும் நீண்ட கிரணங்களை உடைய சூரியன்;

பகர வளங்களு நிகர விளங்கிய இருளை விடிந்தது நிலவாலே ( pagara vaLangaLu nigara viLangiya iruLai vidindhadhu nilavAlE ) : or like the moonlight that is comparable to all the praiseworthy prosperities and is the dispeller of darkness; சொல்லத்தக்க வளப்பங்களுக்கு ஒப்பாக விளங்குவதும் இருளைப் போக்கி உதிக்கும் நிலவொளி; இருளை விடிந்தது ( iruLai vidindhadhu ) : இருளைப் போக்கி உதயமான (நிலவு);

வரையினில் எங்கணும் உலவி நிறைந்தது (varaiyinil engaNum ulavi niRaindhadhu) : (His feet) pervade in all the mountains everywhere and

வரிசை தரும் பதம் அதுபாடி (varisai tharum padham adhu pAdi) : and provide neat sequences of scenery. Singing the glory of Your feet, வரிசை தரும் (varisai tharum) : ஒழுங்கான காட்சியை தரும்

வளமொடு செந்தமிழ் உரை செய ( vaLamodu senthamizh urai seya) : I would like to compose poems in chaste Tamil, rich in diction and meaning,

அன்பரு மகிழ வரங்களும் அருள்வாயே (anbaru magizha varangaLum aruLvAyE ) : to the ecstasy of all Your loving devotees. Kindly bestow this boon on me!

அரஹர சுந்தர அறுமுக என்றுனி (arahara sundhara aRumuga endruni) : "Oh Hara Hara! Oh Handsome One! Oh Six-faced Lord!" - with these thoughtful prayers

அடியர் பணிந்திட மகிழ்வோனே (adiyar paNindhida magizhvOnE) : Your devotees pay obeisance making You happy.

அசல நெடும் கொடி அமை உமை தன் சுத (achala nedum kodi amai umai than sutha) : You are the son of Mother UmAdEvi, the great creeper-like daughter of Mount Himavan! அசலம் (achalam) : mountain;

குறமகள் இங்கித மணவாளா (kuRamagaL ingitha maNavALA) : You are the beloved consort of VaLLi, the damsel of the KuRavAs! இங்கித (ingitha) : இனிமை வாய்ந்த;

கருத அரு திண் புய சரவண (karutha aru thiN buya saravaNa) : Oh SarvanA, the eminence of Your strong shoulders is inconceivable!

குங்கும களபம் அணிந்திடு மணிமார்பா (kungkuma kaLabam aNindhidu maNi mArbA ) : On Your broad chest You wear the paste of sandal and vermilion.

கனக மிகும் பதி மதுரை வளம்பதி (kanaka migumpadhi madhurai vaLampadhi) : In this rich town of Madhurai, full of gold-laid terraces, கனக மிகும் பதி (kanaga migum pathi) : பொன் மாடங்கள் நிரம்பிய நகரம்;

அதனில் வளர்ந்தருள் பெருமாளே.(adhanil vaLarndhu aruL perumALE.) : You are seated graciously, Oh Great One!

நீண்ட கிரணங்களை உடைய நிலவு வலம் வரும் காட்சி தானோ இந்தத் திருவடி என்று சொல்லக் கூடியதும், இருளைப் போக்குவதும், மலை இடங்களில் எல்லாம் உலவி வந்து காட்சி தருவதும் ஆகிய உனது திருவடிகளைச், செந்தழிமால் உன்னைப் புகழ்தற்கும், அதைக் கேட்டு அடியார்கள் மகிழ்தற்கும் அருள் புரிவாயாக.

அரஹர, அழகனே, ஆறுமுகனே என்று கூறி, உன்னைத் தியானித்து, அடியார்கள் வணங்க மகிழ்ச்சி கொள்பவனே! இமய மலையில் தோன்றிய பெருமை வாய்ந்த உமா தேவியின் மகனே! குறமகளான வள்ளியின் இனிய கணவனே! நினைப்பதற்கும் அரிதான திண்ணிய புயங்களை உடையவனே! செஞ்சாந்துக் கலவை அணிந்த மார்பனே! செழிப்பான வளம் கொண்ட மதுரையில் வீற்றிருக்கும் பெருமாளே! உன் திருவடிகளைப் பாட எனக்கு அருள் புரிவாயாக!
