சீரான கோலகால (கோலாகல) நவ மணி மால் அபிஷேக பார (seerAna kOlakAla nava maNi mAl abhishEka bAra ) : Set in an orderly row and adorned by heavy and lofty crowns embedded with nine kinds of brilliant gemstones, அபிஷேக (abhishega) : crown; அபிஷேகபார – திருமுடிகளைத் தாங்கி விளங்குவதும், மால் (mAl) : exalted, lofty;

வெகு வித தேவாதி தேவர் சேவை செயு முக மலர் ஆறும் (vegu vitha thEvAthi thEvar sEvai seyu muga malar ARum) : the six flower-like faces worshipped by various celestials and their lords,

சீராடு வீர மாது மருவிய ஈராறு தோளும் (seerAdu veera mAthu maruviya eerARu thOLum) : the twelve shoulders embraced by the illustrious Veera Lakshmi (Goddess of Valour);

நீளும் வரி அளி சீராகம் ஓதும் நீப பரிமள இரு தாளும் (neeLum vari aLi seerAkam Othum neepa parimaLa iru thALum) : the two sacred feet, fragrant with kadappa flowers around which beetles with long stripes hum the melody of Sri Ragam;

ஆதார பூதமாக வலம் இடம் உறை வாழ்வும் (AthAra bUthamAga valam idam uRai vAzhvum) : standing by You on the right and left side as anchors for Your devotees symbolising Your Divine order;

ஆராயும் நீதி வேலும் மயிலும் (ArAyum neethi vElum mayilum) : the Spear that dispenses justice after careful deliberation; Your Peacock;

மெய்ஞ் ஞான அபிராம தாப வடிவமும் (mey njAna abhirAma thApa vadivamum) : and Your exquisitely handsome and illustrious form depicting True Knowledge; சத்து, சித்து, மிகுந்த அழகான ஆனந்த உருவம் சேர்ந்த சச்சிதானந்தத் திருவுருவத்தையும்; மெய் – சத்து, ஞானம் – சித்து, அபிராம தாபம் – அழகின் மிகுதி (அதனால் விளைவது ஆனந்தம்)

ஒருமுறை, சங்கப் புலவர்கள் 49 பேர் இறையனார் அகப்பொருளுக்கு எழுதிய உரையில் எந்த உரை சிறந்தது என்ற வாதம் வலுக்க, அந்த ஊரில் தனபதி செட்டியார் என்பவருடைய ஊமைப் பிள்ளையாக ருத்ரஜன்மன் என்ற பெயரில் அவதரித்திருந்த முருகன் நக்கீரர், கபிலர், பரணர் ஆகியோர் உரையே சிறந்தவை என்று தீர்ப்பளித்த செய்தி இந்தப் பாடலில் இடம் பெறுகிறது. எப்போதும் இடது பாதம் தூக்கியாடும் இறைவனை, பாண்டியன் ராஜசேகரன் கால் வலிக்குமோ என்று காலை மாற்றி ஆடும்படிக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டதற்கு இணங்க, நடராஜப் பெருமாள் கால் மாற்றி ஆடிய செய்தியும் இதில் சொல்லப்படுகிறது.

ஏர் ஆரும் மாட கூட மதுரையில் மீது ஏறி மாறி ஆடும் இறையவர் (Er Arum mAda kUda mathuraiyil meethu ERi mARi Adum iRaiyavar) : Lord NatarAja, who danced on the silver stage in Madurai, famous for its imposing terraces and halls, and who danced with His right foot up, (changing from the usual left-foot-up position), அழகு நிறைந்த மாட கூடங்கள் உள்ள மதுரையில், வெள்ளி அம்பலத்தில் நடன மேடையில் கால் மாறி ஆடிய இறைவராகிய சிவ பெருமான் (இயற்றிய 'இறையனார் அகப் பொருள்' என்ற நூலுக்கு); ஏர் (Er) : beauty; ஆர் (Ar) : filled;

Thiruvilayadalpuranam narrates the story of Madurai King Rajasekara Pandya who had mastered all 63 of 64 skills except dancing. When he comes to know that his Chola counterpart has mastered all the 64 art forms, he learns dancing but finds it very strenuous. He agonises over the pain that Nataraja must endure dancing continuously on one leg. He pleads with the Lord that he should rest his left leg on the ground and lift his right leg, else he would kill himself. Much to his delight, when he opened his eyes after praying, he finds that deity's dance posture has changed.

ஏழேழு பேர்கள் கூற வரு பொருள் அதிகாரம் (EzhEzhu pErkaL kURa varu poruL athigAram) : which was interpreted by forty-nine poet-stalwarts of the Madhurai Tamil Sangam; in order to explain the real meaning of the chapter on "resources", நாற்பத்தொன்பது சங்கப் புலவர்கள் பொருள் கூறிய பொருள் அதிகாரத்தின் உண்மைப் பொருள் இதுதான் என்று கூறுவதற்காக;

ஈடாய ஊமர் போல வணிகரில் ஊடாடி (eedAya Umar pOla vaNikaril UdAdi) : You hailed from the worthy trader community (vanigar) as a mute and dumb boy and grew up playfully; தகுதி உள்ள ஊமைப் பிள்ளை போல செட்டி குலத்தில் தோன்றி விளையாடி, ஈடாய (eedAya) : ஈடு ஆ(ரா)ய --- (அவ்வுரைகளுள்) சிறந்ததனை ஆய்ந்துரைக்கும் பொருட்டு, to choose the worthy by study,

ஆலவாயில் விதி செய்த லீலா விசார தீர வரதர குருநாதா (AlavAyil vithi seytha leelA visAra theera varathara gurunAthA) : At Madhurai where You established the truth by way of a Divine sport, Oh Courageous One! You are the grantor of boons, Oh Great Master! ஆலவாய் என்னும் மதுரையில் உண்மைப் பொருளை நிலை நிறுத்திக் காட்டிய திருவிளையாடலைப் புரிந்த தீரனே, வரங்களைக் கொடுப்பவனே, குரு நாதனே,; லீலா (leela) : divine sport, thiruvilaiyaadal; விதி செய்த லீலா விசார (vithi seytha leelA visAra ) : உரைகளின் ஏற்றத்தாழ்வுகளை ஆராய்ந்து தெளிவுபடுத்தும் திருவிளையாடலைச் செய்தவரே! ஆராய்ச்சியுடையவரே!

முன் வீய நினைபவன் ஈடேறுமாறு கூர் ஆழியால் பாநு மறைவு செய் (mun veeya ninaipavan eedERumARu kUr AzhiyAl bAnu maRaivu sey) : Once, (in the mahabharat war) when Arjunan prepared to shed his life (by jumping into fire), He saved him by concealing the sun with His sharp disc; முன்பு (பாரதப் போர் நடந்தபோது) இறந்து போவதற்கு எண்ணித் துணிந்த அர்ச்சுனன் உய்யுமாறு கூர்மையான சக்கரத்தால் சூரியனை மறைத்து வைத்த; வீய நினைபவன்(veeya ninaibavan) : ready to give up life, thinking of dying; Arjuna;

கோபாலராய நேயம் உள திரு மருகோனே (gOpAlarAya nEyam uLa thiru marugOnE) : He is the Lord of the cowherds, Krishnan, and You are His dear nephew!

கோடாமல் ஆரவார அலை எறி காவேரி ஆறு பாயும் வயலியில் (kOdAmal AravAra alai eRi kAvEri ARu pAyum vayaliyil) : This river KAvEri flings its noisy waves in a rhythm; on its banks is the town VayalUr which is Your abode. கோடாமல்(kOdAmal) : without fail or mistake;

கோனாடு சூழ் விராலி மலை உறை பெருமாளே. (kOnAdu sUzh virAli malai uRai perumALE.) : You are also seated in VirAlimalai which is in the region of KOnAdu, Oh Great One!
