தொக்கு அறா குடில் அசுத்தம் ஏற்ற (thokkaRAk kudil asuththamERRa) : This is a cottage/hut with an unpeeled skin and a lot of dirt (the body); Compare tOlodu koodiya koorai தொக்கு அறா = தோல் நீங்காத;

சுக(ம்)துக்கம் மால் கடமு(ம்) (Suga thukkamAR kadam) : it is a vessel holding happiness, agony and delusion; கடம் (kadam) : pot; மால் (maal ) : delusion;

மலம் மாயை துற்ற கால் பதலை (mumalamAyai thuRRa kAl pathalai) : it is a pot filled with the three dross (the three malams) namely, arrogance, karma and delusion; கால் பதலை (kAl pathalai) : pitcher filled with air; காற்று அடங்கும் பானை;

சொல் படா குதலை துப்பு இலா பல சமய நூலை கைக்கொளா கதறுகை கொளா (sol padA kuthalai thuppilAp pala samaya nUlai kaik koLA kathaRu kaikkoL ) : Taking seriously the works of several religions consisting of incomprehensible words that are like the unintelligible prattle of small children, the religious zealots resort to excessive shouting and screaming. குதலை (kudhalai) : prattle; துப்பு இலா (thuppu ilA) : not appealing to the intellect, meaningless; சொல் படா குதலை = சொல்லாக விளங்காத மழலைச் சொல் போன்ற; துப்பு இலா = அறிவுக்குப் பொருந்தாத; துப்பு இலா பல சமய நூலை கை கொளா = அறிவுக்குப் பொருந்தாத பல சமய நூல்களைக் கைக்கொண்டு, கதறுகை கொள் = கதறிப் பேசுவதை மேற்கொண்ட,

ஆக்கை அவல புலால் தசை குருதியாலே கட்டு கூட்டு (Akkai avalap pulAl thasai kuruthiyAlE kattukUttu) : this body is a jumble of miserable flesh, muscles and blood; ஆக்கை (Akkai) : body;

அருவருப்பு வேட்டு உழல் (aruvaruppu vEttuzhala) : Even though I roam around hankering after such a despicable body, வேட்டு உழல = விரும்பி திரிகின்ற எனக்கு;

அசட்ட வாக்கு அழிவது ஒரு நாளே (sattavAkku azhivathu orunALE) : will there be a day when my speech totally ceases (and silence prevails)? அசட்ட= கீழ் மகனாகிய அடியேனுக்கு, வாக்கு அழிவது= வாக்கு அழிவதும் (மவுன நிலை கூடுவதும்); ஒரு நாளே = ஒரு நாள் வருமோ?

அக்கு அரா பொடியின் மெய்க்கு இடா குரவர் (akku arAp podiyin meykku idAk kuravar) : the elderly(Shiva) wearing bones, serpents and holy ash on His body, குரவர் (kuravar) : an elderly respectable person; அக்கு (akku) : rudraksha bead, bone (both meanings are appropriate here); அரா (araa) : serpent;

அர்ச்சியா தொழும் முநிவனாய் அப்ப (archiyAth thozhu munivanAy appa) : You are the wise sage-like master worshipped by that SivA with flowers. முநிவன் ஆய அப்ப= மெய்ஞ்ஞான முனிவராக விளங்கும் பரமபிதாவே!

போர் பன்னிரு வெற்ப (pOrp pan iru veRpa) : You have twelve mountain-like shoulders ready for a battle; வெற்பு (veRpu) : mountain;

பூ தணியல் வெற்ப பார்ப்பதி நதி குமாரா (pUth thaNiyal veRpa pArppathi nathi kumArA) : resident at the mountain (Thanigai) where flowers (blue lilies) bloom! Son of Parvathi and the river (Ganges)! பூத் தணியல் வெற்ப = (குவளை) மலர் மலர்கின்ற தணிகை மலையில் வாழ்பவனே

இக்கண் நோக்கு உறில் நிருத்த நோக்கு உறு தவத்தினோர்க்கு உதவும் இளையோனே (ikkaN nOkkuRil niruththa nOkku uRu thavaththinOrkku uthavum iLaiyOnE) : 'If there is a sight worth seeing, it is the sight of Your dance', the sages who have such a vision or goal, You are for ever helpful to them, Oh Youthful One! இக் கண்ணால் இந்த உலகில் ஒன்றைப் பார்க்க வேண்டுமானால் அப்பார்வை முருகனுடைய நடன கோலம் அன்றி மற்றொன்ளைப் பார்க்கக் கூடாது என்ற உறுதி பூண்ட தவ சீலர்கட்கு உதவுகின்ற இளம்பூரணனே! நிருத்த நோக்கு = நடனத்தை நோக்கும் நோக்கு;
