துள்ளுமத வேள் கைக் கணையாலே (thuLLu madha vEL kaik kaNaiyAlE) : The barrage of flower arrows sent by the arrogantly swaggering Love God (Manmathan); செருக்குடன் வரும் மன்மத வேளின் கைகளிலிருந்து வரும் மலர்ப் பாணங்களினாலும்,

தொல்லை நெடு நீலக் கடலாலே (thollai nedu neelak kadalAlE) : the deeply distressing blue seas; நீண்ட துன்பத்தைத் தரும் நீலநிறக் கடலாலும்,

மெள்ள வரு சோலைக் குயிலாலே (meLLa varu sOlaik kuyilAlE) : the slowly approaching cuckoo from the groves (singing a melancholic tune); மெதுவாக வந்து (தன் சோகக் குரலைக் காட்டும்) சோலையிலுள்ள குயிலினாலும்,

மெய் உருகு மானை தழுவாயே (mey urugu mAnaith thazhuvAyE) : All these melt my deer-like love-tormented daughter. Please come and embrace her. காதலால் உடல் உருகும் மான் போன்ற என் மகளை அணைத்துக் கொள்.

தெள்ளு தமிழ் பாட தெளிவோனே (theLLu thamizh pAdath theLivOnE) : You are the learned Sambandhan capable of composing poems in chaste Tamil! இனிமையான தமிழில் பாடல்களைப் பாடவல்ல தெளிவு கொண்ட சம்பந்தப் பெருமானே,
