ராகம் : சிந்துபைரவி

பாழ்வாழ்வு எனும் இப் படுமாயையிலே
வீழ்வாய் என என்னை விதித்தனையே
தாழ்வானவை செய்தன தாம் உளவோ?
வாழ்வாய் இனி நீ மயில் வாகனனே.	31

pAzhvAzhvu enum ippadumAyaiyilE
veezhvAi ena ennai vidhiththanaiyE
thAzhvAnavai seidhavaithAm uLavO
vAzhvAi ini nee mayilvAgananE!	31

You decreed that I should be entangled in the illusory swirl of Maya and lead a useless life like this. Have I, in my previous life done anything despicable to deserve this? Oh peacock-mounted God! Whatever it may be, May You prosper hereafter!

கலையே பதறிக், கதறித் தலையூடு
அலையே படுமாறு, அதுவாய் விடவோ?
கொலையே புரி வேடர் குலப் பிடிதோய்
மலையே, மலை கூறிடு வாகையனே.	32

alaiyE padumARu adhuvAi AiyvidavO
kolaiyE puri vEdarkulap pidi thOi

Shall my mind remain bewildered with bookish knowledge, scream excitedly in debates on scriptures, and experience agony in my head? Oh Lord, You embrace Valli, The cow-elephant of the hunter tribe who are professional murderers. You are high as a mountain, and You cleft the Krauncha Peak with the lance of victory! பிடி (pidi) : female elephant;

சிந்தாகுல இல்லொடு செல்வம் எனும்
விந்தாடவி என்று விடப் பெறுவேன்
மந்தாகினி தந்த வரோதயனே
கந்தா, முருகா, கருணாகரனே.	33

sindhA Agulam illOdu selvam enum
vindhAdavi endRu vidappeRuvEn?
mandhAgini thandha varOdhayanE
kandhA murugA karuNAgaranE!	33

When can I extricate myself out of the tangle of worldly life and wealth, dense and dark like the forests of Vindhya? Oh Lord, You are the boon given by Goddess Ganga! Oh Kanda, Muruga! O Embodiment of Compassion! விந்தா+அடவி (vintha+atavi) : the forests of Vindhya mountains;

சிங்கார மடந்தையர் தீநெறி போய்
மங்காமல் எனக்கு வரம் தருவாய்
சங்க்ராம சிகாவல, சண்முகனே
கங்காநதி பால, க்ருபாகரனே.	34

singAra madandhaiyar theeneRi pOi
mangkAmal enakku varam tharuvAi!
sangkrAma sigAvala saNmuganE!
gangA nadhi bAla krubAgaranE!

Pray grant me the boon that my mind and intellect may not be dimmed by evil pursuits after beautiful women. O Lord Shanmukha with the battle-waging Peacock! Oh, Child of Ganga and Abode of Grace! சிகி (siki) : peacock; சிகாவலம் (sikhavalam) : going around on a peacock;

விதிகாணும் உடம்பை விடா வினையேன்
கதிகாண மலர்க் கழல் என்று அருள்வாய்?
மதி வாள் நுதல் வள்ளியை அல்லது பின்
துதியா விரதா, சுர பூபதியே.	35

vidhikANum udambai vidA vinaiyEn
gadhikANa malarkkazhal endRu aruLvAi?
madhivANudhal vaLLiyai alladhu pin
thudhiyA viradhA sura bUbadhiyE!	35

I am unable to forsake this body created by Brahma and driven by karma. When will You grant Your holy feet for me to be redeemed? O Lord of Devaloka!
