ஒருபதும் இருபதும் அறுபதும் உடன் அறும் உணர்வுற (orupadhum irupadhum aRupadhum udanaRum uNarvuRa) : In order to realize the nature and the essence of the ninety-six tattvas (tenets), தொண்ணூற்று ஆறு தத்துவங்களின் உண்மையை உணர்ந்து, ஒருபதும் இருபதும் அறுபதும் உடன்அறும் (orupadhum irupadhum aRupadhum udanaRum) : one ten number plus two ten numbers plus six ten numbers plus six (10+ 20+ 60 + 6); ninety-six;

இரு பதம் உள நாடி உருகிட (iru padham uLa nAdi urugida) : I should seek Your two feet with a melting heart,

முழுமதி தழலென ஒளிதிகழ் வெளியொடு ஒளிபெற விரவாதே (muzhu madhi thazhal ena oLi thigazh veLiyodu oLipeRa viravAdhE) : and intermingle in the Cosmic Light, which is luminous as the full moon. Instead (of merging and blending in that light), பௌர்ணமி நிலவின் சுடர்விடும் ஒளியைப் போல ஒளிவீசுவதான பரவெளியின் ஒளியோடு ஒளியாக நான் ஒன்று கலக்க முயலாமல்,

தெருவினில் மரமென எவரொடும் உரைசெய்து திரிதொழில் அவமது புரியாதே (theruvinil maram ena evarodum uraiseydhu thirithozhil avamadhu puriyAdhE) : I stand like a tree on the streets and roam around, chatting futilely with whoever passes by; In order that I do not indulge in such vile acts,

திருமகள் மருவிய திரள்புய அறுமுக தெரிசனை பெறஅருள் புரிவாயே (thirumagaL maruviya thiraLbuya aRumuga dherisanai peRa aruL purivAyE) : You should grant me Your Graceful Vision, with Your six faces and broad shoulders fondly embraced by VaLLi, daughter of Lakshmi,

பரிவுடன் அழகிய பழமொடு கடலைகள் (parivudan azhagiya pazhamodu kadalaigaL) : When good fruits and nuts are offered with love and devotion,

பயறொடு சிலவகை பணியாரம் பருகிடு பெருவயிறு உடையவர் (payaRodu silavagai paNiyAram parugidu peruvayiR udaiyavar) : along with pulses and some home-made eatables,(GanEshA) devours them and fills up his big belly!

பழமொழி எழுதிய கணபதி யிளையோனே (pazhamozhi ezhudhiya gaNapathi iLaiyOnE) : That Ganapathi also wrote the old MahAbhArathA; You are His younger brother!

பெருமலை உருவிட அடியவர் உருகிட (perumalai uruvida adiyavar urugida) : (Your Grace) Pierces through the huge mount (Krouncha malai) and melts Your devotees' hearts,

பிணி கெட அருள்தரு குமரேசா (piNi keda aruLtharu kumarEsA) : and cures their disease of repeated births; such is Your grace that accomplishes all these, Oh KumaresA.

பிடியொடு களிறுகள் நடையிட கலைதிரள் பிணை அமர் (pidiyodu kaLiRugaL nadaiyida kalaithiraL piNaiyamar) : (In this holy place) herds of female elephants roam about with male elephants and male antelopes relish the company of does; பிடி (pidi) : female elephant; களிறு (kaLiRu) : male elephant; கலை திரள் (kalai thiraL) : hordes of male antelopes or kalaimaan; பிணை(piNai) : female deer/antelope;

திருமலை பெருமாளே. (thirumalai perumALE.) : This place is Your abode, Thirumalai (Srichailam), Oh Great One!
