வயிறு இருந்து முற்றி பயின்று (vayiRirundhu mutri payindru) : and matured into a full fledged form in the womb

கடையில் வந்து உதித்து குழந்தை வடிவாகி (kadaiyilvandhu udhiththu kuzhandhai vadivAgi) : and then emerged as a baby

கழுவி அங்கு எடுத்து சுரந்த முலை அருந்துவிக்கக் கிடந்து கதறி அங்கை கொட்டித் தவழந்து நடமாடி (kazhuvi anggeduththu surandha mulai arundhuvikka kidandhu kadhaRi angai kotti thavazhndhu nadamaadi) : I was washed and breast-fed; I cried, I clapped, I crawled, I walked

(இடையில்) அரைஞாண்களைக் கட்டி கால்களில் சதங்கைகளையும், தரிக்கத்தகுந்த காதணி முதலிய ஆபரணங்களை அணிந்துகொண்டு, நன்றாகச் சரீரம் பலப்பட்டு வளர்ந்து, -ஆண்டுகள் நிறைந்து வாலிபப் பருவத்தையுற்று,

அரிய பெண்கள் நட்பை புணர்ந்து பிணி உழன்று சுற்றி திரிந்தது அமையும் (ariya peNgaL natpai puNarndhu piNi uzhandru sutri thirindhadhu amaiyumun) : I made friendship with rare girls, became disease-ridden and strayed without direction. This (suffering)is enough.

உன் க்ருபை சித்தம் என்று பெறுவேனோ (krupai chiththam endru peRuvEnO) : When will I receive your benediction?

தீயவனான ராவணனை அழிக்க உருவான ராம அவதாரத்தில் விஷ்ணு அம்சமான ராமன், ஆதிசேஷன் அம்சமான லட்சுமணன், சங்கு, சக்கரம் முறையே பரதன், சத்ருக்ணனாய் அவதரித்தனர். ராவணனின் கொடுமை தாங்காத தேவர்கள் முதலானவர்கள் மகாவிஷ்ணுவிடம் சென்று முறையிட்டார்கள். அப்போது மகாவிஷ்ணு, தான் தசரத மைந்தன் ராமராக அவதரித்து, ராவணனை சங்காரம் செய்வதாகச் சொன்னார். பிரம்மாதி தேவர்களையும் வானரங்களாக வந்து பிறக்கும்படியாகச் சொன்னார். சூரியன்- சுக்ரீவனாகவும், இந்திரன்- வாலியாகவும் தோன்றி, வெற்றிக் குரங்கு அரசர்களாக இருந்தார்கள். ஈடு இணை இல்லாத மஹாவிஷ்ணுவின் நாபிக் கமலத்தில் அவதரித்த பிரம்ம தேவர் - கரடி முகம் கொண்ட ஜாம்பவானாக- சேனைகளுக்குத் தலைவனாகத் தொன்றினார். அக்கினி பகவான்-நீலனாகவும், ருத்திரன்-சிறப்பு வாய்ந்த அனுமனாகவும் அவதரித்தனர். ஒப்பில்லாத தேவர்கள் எல்லோரும் இப்படி பூமிக்கு வந்து சேர்ந்தனர். இவர்களுக்கெல்லாம் தலைவராக இருந்த ராமர், அசுரர்களை அழித்தார்.

இரவி இந்தரன் (iravi indhran) Surya and Indra; வெற்றி குரங்கின் அரசர் என்றும் (vetri kurangin arasar endrum): kings of the victorious monkeys – Sugreeva and Vali; ஒப்பற்ற உந்தி இறைவன் (oppatra undhi iRaivan) : Incomparable god who came from the umbilicus of Vishnu: ie., Brahma); எண்கு இன கர்த்தன் என்றும் (eNgu ina karththan endrum) : appeared (as Jambhavan) as the chief of the bear tribe; நெடு நீலன் எரியது என்றும் ( neduneelan eriyadhu endrum) : tall Neelan was veritably the Fire God; ருத்ரன் சிறந்த அநுமன் என்றும் (rudraR siRandha anuman endrum) : Rudra assumed the form of Hanuman;

இணை கூறுதற்கு அறிய தேவர்கள் வானரங்களாக (மேற்கூறிய தேவர்களோடு) பூவுலகத்தில் முன்னதாகவே வந்து சேர, அவர்களை தனது சிறந்த சேனைகளுக்கு படை தலைவர்களாக கொண்டு அரக்கர்கலுடைய சுற்றத்தார்களின் கூட்டத்தை அழித்து வென்ற நெடுமாலின் சிறப்பான மருகனே! ஒப்பற்ற அண்டர் எவரும் இந்த வர்க்கத்தில் வந்து புனம் மேவ (oppatra aNdar evarum indha vargaththil vandhu punamEva) : Unrivalled devas took birth on the earth and joined this gang;

அரிய தன் படை கர்த்தர் என்று (ariyathanpa daikkarththar endru): (You) are the Chief of this rare army;

அசுரர் தம் கிளை கட்டை வென்ற அரி முகுந்தன் மெச்சுற்ற பண்பின் மருகோனே (asurarthan kiLai kattai vendra arimukundhan mecchutra paNbin marugOnE): who defeated the demons and their dynasty – Vishnu (as described in the above lines); You are the worthy nephew of Vishnu who always praises your virtues.

அயனையும் புடைத்து சினந்து உலகமும் படைத்து பரிந்து அருள் பரங்கிரிக்குள் சிறந்த பெருமாளே. (ayanaiyum pudaiththu chinandhu ulagamum padaiththu parindhu aruL parangirikkuL siRandha perumaaLE.) You punished Brahma, and took over the job of Creating this world, and tenderly protect it and reside in the hills of Thirupparangiri.

Lord Subrahmanya humbled Brahma, the Creator, by asking him the meaning and significance of the Pranava mantra — AUM. Brahma was at a loss to explain this. Lord Subrahmanya then asked Brahma how he could be the creator if he did not even know the meaning of the Pranava mantra. He then curled up His fingers and gave Brahma a knock on each of his heads

Brief Meaning

I entered my mother's womb, grew for ten months, was born as a baby, drank her breast milk; then crawled and walked and wore ornaments and as an adult, made friendship with girls and suffered ailments thereof. I am tired of this vagrant life. When will I get your blessings?

You are the nephew of Vishnu who assumed the leadership of the army made of Surya (sun) and Indra – reborn as Sugreeva and Vali; Brahma as Jambhavan; Neelan as Head of Fire; Rudra as Hanuman; and other Devas as Vanara troop. You scolded Brahma; you created the Universe and you are seated on the Thirupparankundram Hills. When will I get your blessings?

Additional Explanation

When Vishnu incarnated himself as Rama, then Brahma, the self-created, decided to create valorous and guise changing helpmates for the elimination of the ten-headed demon Ravana. Vali and sugreeva, children of a monkey called Aruni, were born to Indra and the Sun respectively. The divine architect Vishvakarma procreated the great monkey called Nala. Agni, the god of fire, became the father of Neela. The Ashwin twin gods procreated two vanara-s namely Mainda and Dvivida. Varuna, the Rain-god procreated the vanara named Susheshana, and Thunder-god gave rise to the great mighty Sharabha. The direct son of wind god was the intelligent and the indefatigable Hanuman one too.
