Paraphrase

பாதி மதி நதி போதும் அணி சடை நாதர் அருளிய குமரேசா (pAdhi madhi nadhi pOdhum aNisadai nAdhar aruLiya kumarEsa) : You are the gift from Lord Shiva who wears a crescent moon, river Ganges and (Kondrai) flowers in His tresses; பிறைச்சந்திரனையும், கங்கா நதியையும், கொன்றை முதலிய மலர்களையும், தரித்துக் கொண்டுள்ள சடைமுடியை உடைய தனிப்பெருந் தலைவராகிய சிவபெருமான் பெற்றருளிய குமாரக் கடவுளே!

பாகு கனி மொழி மாது குற மகள் பாதம் வருடிய மணவாளா (pAgu kanimozhi mAdhu kuRamagaL pAdham varudiya maNavALA) : You are the consort of the Kurava girl Valli whose voice is sweeter than sugar and fruits and whose feet You caress;

காதும் ஒரு விழி காகம் உற அருள் மாயன் அரி திரு மருகோனே (kAdhum oru vizhi kAgam uRa aruL mAyan ari thiru marugOnE) : You are the nephew of Lord Vishnu who (in the Ramavatara)spared one eye of the crow (Kakasura who tormented Sita for which devilish act he was punished by the destruction of one eye); கொல்லுதற்குத் துணிந்தும் (அடைக்கலம் புகுந்ததனால்) ஒரு விழியைக் காக வடிவுற்ற காகாசுரனுக்குத் தந்து அருள்புரிந்த, மாயா விநோதரும், பாவங்களைப் போக்குபவருமாகிய நாராயண மூர்த்தியினுடைய திருமருகரே!

Once, Sita and Rama had wandered in the grove at Chitrakoota. Soon, Rama fell asleep on Sita’s lap. At that time, Indra’s son Jayanta took the form of a crow and pecked at Sita’s bosoms. Sita tried to shoo it away but couldn't. Rama soon woke up from his slumber and saw a blood-stained Sita. He could easily divine what had happened. Taking a blade of grass, He converted it into the most powerful dart called Brahmastra and flung it. This arrow chased the crow relentlessly. Finding that none in the three worlds could save him, the crow returned to Rama for protection. Rama graciously spared its life but punished it by removing a pupil from one of its eyes and letting it use the remaining pupil for both the eyes.

காலன் எனை அணுகாமல் உனது இரு காலில் வழி பட அருள்வாயே (kAlan enai aNugAmal unadhiru kAlil vazhipada aruLvAyE) : In order that Yaman (Death-God) never approaches me, bless me with your grace so that I surrender at Your two feet.

(Adhi ayanodu dhEvar surar ulagALum vagai uRu siRai meeLA) : You liberated good old BrahmA and all DEvAs to regain Heaven and rule again from the prison of SUran.

(Adu mayilinil ERi amarargaL sUzha varavarum iLaiyOnE) : Mounting the dancing peacock and surrounded by DEvAs, You come, Oh Divine Youth!

சூதம் மிக வளர் சோலை மருவு சுவாமி மலை தனில் உறைவோனே (sUdham miga vaLar sOlai maruvu suvAmi malai thanil uRaivOnE) : You reside at Swamimalai where there are groves abounding in mango trees;

சூரன் உடல் அற வாரி சுவறிட வேலை விட வ(ல்)ல பெருமாளே.(sUran udal aRa vAri suvaRida vElai vida vala perumALE.) : You destroyed SUran's body and dried up the entire sea, by throwing Your powerful spear, Oh Great One!; வாரி ( vaari) : sea;
