கயல் விழித்தேன் எனைச் செயலழித்தாய் என (kayal vizhiththEn enai seyAl azhiththAy ena): "I kept a vigil day and night looking after you, but you abandoned me leaving me totally inactive; கண்விழித்து உனக்கு எத்தனை நாள் பணிவிடைகள் செய்தேன், என்னை செயலற்றுப் போகச் செய்துவிட்டாயே என்றும்,

கணவ கெட்டேன் எனப் (kaNava kettEn ena): Oh my dear husband, having lost you, I am destroyed" so wailed the wife. கணவனே, உன்னை இழந்து நான் அழிந்து போனேனே என்றும் மனைவி அழவும்,

பெறு மாது கருது புத்ரா என (peRu mAdhu karudhu puthrA ena): The old mother lamented "Oh my son, you always remain in my thoughts". என் கருத்திலேயே நிலைத்து நிற்கும் மகனே என்று தாயார் அழவும்,

புதல்வர் அப்பா எனக் கதறிட (pudhalvar appA ena kadhaRida): The sons wept loudly "Oh father!" புதல்வர் அப்பா எனக் கதறி அழவும்,

பாடையில் தலை மீதே பயில் குலத்தார் அழப் பழைய நட்பார் அழ (pAdaiyil thalai meedhE payil kulaththAr azha pazhaiya natpAr azha): At the head of the corpse, all relatives and old friends assembled and cried. பிணத்தை வைத்த பாடையின் தலைமாட்டில் நின்று பழகிய சுற்றத்தார் அழவும், பழமையான நட்பினர்கள் அழவும்,

அமரர் அத்தா சிறுக் குமரி முத்தா (amarar aththA siRu kumari muththA): You are the Lord of the Celestials! You kiss the little girl, DEvayAnai, reared by the DEvAs. தேவர்களுக்குத் தலைவனே, அவர்களிடை வளர்ந்த சிறிய குமரி தேவயானையை முத்தமிட்டு மகிழ்வோனே,
