மிகப் பிணிகளுக்கே இளைத்து உழல் நாயேன் (migap piNikaLukkE iLaiththu uzhal nAyEn): I, the lowly dog, was debilitated with many diseases and roamed about aimlessly.மிகுந்த நோய்களால் இளைத்துத் திரிகின்ற நாயினும் கீழான எனது

பிழை பொறுத்தாயெனப் பழுதறுத்து ஆளென (pizhai poRuththAy enap pazhuthu aRuththu AL ena): Saying "Please forgive my sins and protect by severing me from all defects!" குற்றங்களைப் பொறுத்தவனே என்றும், என் பிழைகளைக் களைந்து ஆண்டருள்வாய் என்றும்,

பிரியமுற்று ஓதிடப் பெறுவேனோ (piriyamutRu Othidap peRuvEnO): will I have the fortune of chanting Your glory with love? அன்பு கொண்டு நான் உன்னை ஓதிப் புகழும் பாக்கியத்தைப் பெறுவேனோ?

கரிய மெய்க் கோலமுற்ற அரியின் (kariya meyk kOlamutRa ariyin): "Vishnu, who has the complexion of dark cloud, கரிய உடலின் நிறம் கொண்ட திருமாலின்

கலை வகுத்து ஓதி (kalai vaguththu Othi): to that SivA, You preached the essence of all arts, namely, the PraNava ManthrA; கலைகளின் சாரமாம் பிரணவப் பொருளை எடுத்து உபதேசித்தவன்,

வெற்பது தொளைத்தோன் (veRpathu thoLaiththOn): You pierced (with Your spear) Mount Krouncha; கிரெளஞ்ச மலையைத் தொளை செய்தவன்,
