தினமணி சார்ங்க பாணி என (dhinamaNi sArngapANi ena) : Appearing bright like the Sun and like Vishnu who holds the bow SArangam, சூரியன் என்றும், சார்ங்கம் என்னும் வில்லைத் தனது திருக்கையில் தரித்துள்ள திருமால் என்றும், தினமணி = சூரியன்;

மதிள் நீண்டு சால தினகரன் ஏய்ந்த மாளிகையில் (madhiL neendu sAla dhinakaran Eyndha mALigaiyil) : living in a bungalow with long ramparts, where the sun lights up every nook, தினமணி/தினகரன் (dinamaNi/dinakaran) : sun; மதிள்(ல்) (mathil) : rampart, wall;

ஆரம் செழுமணி சேர்ந்த பீடிகையில் இசை வாய்ந்த பாடல் வயிரியர் சேர்ந்து பாட (Aram sezhumaNi sErndha peedigaiyil isai vAyndha pAdal vayiriyar sErndhu pAda) : reclining on a seat adorned with pearls and precious gems to the accompaniment of courtesans singing panegyrics in chorus, பீடிகை (peedigai) : seat; பீடம் ; வயிரியர் (vayiriyar) : hired dancers, stageplayers; hired panegyrists;

இருபாலும் இன வளை பூண் கையார் கவரி இட (iru pAlum ina vaLai pUN kaiyAr kavari ida) : with damsels, wearing similar pairs of bangles, gently fanning on both sides,

வேய்ந்து மாலை புழுககில் சாந்து பூசி அரசாகி (vEyndhu mAlai puzhugagil sAndhu pUsi arasAgi) : leading a royal life, with garlands on the chest smeared with fragrant punugu, sandal paste and incense, புழுகு/புனுகு (puzhugu/punugu) : scent taken from civet cat; அகில் (agil) : sandal tree;

மயிலொடு மான்கள் சூழ வளவரி வேங்கையாகி (mayilodu mAngaL sUzha vaLavari vEngai Agi) : You appeared as Vengai tree surrounded by peacocks and deers in the fertile மயில்களும் மான்களும் சூழ்ந்து இருக்க, செழித்து, வரிகளோடு வளர்ந்த வேங்கை மரமாகி

மலை மிசை தோன்று(ம்) மாய வடிவோனே (malai misai thOndru mAya vadivOnE) : mount of Vallimalai, Oh lord with a mystical form!

கன சமண் மூங்கர் கோடி கழு மிசை தூங்க (ganasamaN mUngar kOdi kazhumisai thUnga) : Thousands of dumbfounded samaNa priests (defeated by You in argument) were sent to the gallows, கழு (kazhu) : gallows;

நீறு கருணை கொள் பாண்டி நாடு பெற (neeRu karuNaikoL pAndi nAdu peRa) : and the Kingdom of Pandiyan received the sacred ash that You gave compassionately,
