Paraphrase

அரி மருகோனே நமோவென்று (ari marugOnE namO endru) : "Oh the nephew of Vishnu, I bow to You.

அறுதியிலானே நமோவென்று (aRudhi ilAnE namO endru) : Oh One who does not have an end, I bow to You.

அறுமுக வேளே நமோவென்று (aRumuga vELE namO endru) : Oh Lord with six faces, I bow to You.

உன பாதம் அரகர சேயே நமோவென்று (una pAdham arahara sEyE namO endru) : I bow to Your feet Oh Son of SivA, who removes all sins.

இமையவர் வாழ்வே நமோவென்று (imayavar vAzhvE namO endru) : You are the Treasure of all DEvAs, I bow to You.

அருண சொரூபா நமோவென்று (aruNa sorUpA namO endru) : Oh Lord with the colour of the rising sun, I bow to You".

உளதாசை (uLadhAsai) : I have the desire to bow extolling You thus.

பரிபுர பாதா (paripura pAdhA) : You wear the victorious anklets around Your feet!

சுரேசன் தரு மகள் நாதா (surEsan tharumagaL nAthA) : You are the consort of DEvayAnai, daughter of DEvEndrA!

அராவின் பகைமயில் வேலாயுத ஆடம்பர (arAvin pagai mayil vElAyudha Adambara) : You proudly display Your peacock, a foe of the serpent, and Your spear! அரா(araa) : snake, serpent;

நாளும் பகர்தலிலா தாளை (nALum pagardhal ilA thALai) : I never praise Your feet even for a day.

ஏதுஞ் சிலதறியா ஏழை நான் (Edhum siladhaRiyA Ezhai nAn) : I do not know even the basic things.

உன் பதிபசு பாச உபதேசம் பெறவேணும் (un pathi pasu pAsOpadhEsam peRa vENum) : You must preach me the principles of Pathi-Pasu-PAsam, (Pathi - God; Pasu - JeevAthma {this soul}; and PAsam - the three slags of arrogance, karma and delusion).

கரதல சூலாயுதா (karathala sUlAyudhA) : You hold the weapon of Trident in Your hand!

முன் சலபதி போல் ஆரவாரம் ( mun jalapathi pOl AravAram) : Once, making noise like the waves of a turbulent sea,

கடின சுராபான சாமுண்டியும் ஆட (kadina surA pAna chAmuN diyum Ada) : and intoxicated with crude wine, Mother Durga danced; and

கரி பரி மேலேறுவானும் செயசெய சேனா பதீயென (kari pari mEl ERuvAnum jeya jeya sEnApathee ena) : IndrA, who mounts the elephant (AirAvatham), shouted "Oh Our Commander-in-Chief, Victory to You!"; கரி (kari) : elephant; பரி (pari) : horse; here, vehicle;

களமிசை தானேறியே (kaLa misai thAn ERiyE) : when You entered the battlefield.

அஞ்சிய சூரன் குரல்விட (anjiya sUran kuralvida) : SUran, who was scared, screamed uncontrollably; and

நாய் பேய்கள் பூதங் கழுகுகள் கோமாயு காகம் குடல்கொளவே (nAy pEygaL bUthang kazhugugaL kOmAyu kAkang kudal koLavE) : his intestines were preyed upon by hounds, ghosts, devils, eagles, jackals and crows; கோமாயு(kOmAyu) : jackal, நரி;

பூசலாடும் பலதோளா (pUsalAdum pala thOLA) : when You fought with the might of Your many shoulders!

குடதிசை வாராழி போலும் படர்நதி காவேரி சூழும் (kudadhisai vArAzhi pOlum padar nadhi kAvEri sUzhum ) : To the west of this town, there is the River KAvEri which spreads like a huge ocean, குட திசை (kudadhisai) : west; வாரம்/ஆழி(vaaram/aazhi) : sea/ocean;

குளிர் வயலூர் ஆர மேவும் பெருமாளே. (kuLir vayalUrAra mEvum perumALE.) : You reside contended at this cool place, VayalUr, which is Your abode, Oh Great One!
