சந்தம் புனைந்து சந்தம் சிறந்த தண் கொங்கை வஞ்சி மனையாளும் (sandham punaindhu sandham siRandha thaN kongai vanji manaiyALum) : My slender-as-creeper lovely wife who smears sandal paste on her beautiful cool bosom; and சந்தனத்தைப் பூசிக்கொண்டு மிகவும் அழகு சிறந்த குளிர்ந்த மார்புடைய வஞ்சிக்கொடி போன்ற மனைவியும், சந்தம் (santham) : sandalwood paste, beautiful, சந்தனம், அழகு;

தஞ்சம் பயின்று கொஞ்சுஞ் சதங்கை தங்கும் பதங்கள் இளைஞோரும் (thanjam payindru konjum sadhangai thangum padhangaL iLainyOrum) : my children who wear lilting anklets around their ankles and are totally dependent on me; என்னையே பற்றுக்கோடாகக் கொண்டு, கொஞ்சி ஒலிக்கும் கிண்கிணிகள் அணிந்த பாதங்களை உடைய குழந்தைகளும்,

அங் குறிஞ்சி உறைவோனே (ang kuRinji uRaivOnE) : You reside at several beautiful mountains! அழகிய மலையிடங்களில் எல்லாம் வீற்றிருப்பவனே,

கொங்கின் புனம் செய் மின் கண்ட கந்த (kongin punansey minkaNda kandha) : You went to the fragrant millet-field to find VaLLi, who is bright as a lightning, Oh KandhA. வாசனை மிக்க தினைப்புன வயலிலே இருந்த மின்னல் போன்ற அழகி வள்ளியைக் கண்டு மகிழ்ந்த கந்தனே, செய் (sey) : field ( as in புன்-மை + செய் or புஞ்சை means dry land); கொங்கு (kongu) : fragrant;

குன்றம் பிளந்த கதிர்வேலா (kundRam piLandha kadhirvElA) : You split the Mount Krouncha with Your bright spear, VElA! கிரெளஞ்சமலையைப் பிளந்த ஒளி படைத்த வேலனே,

ஐந்து இந்த்ரியங்கள் வென்று ஒன்றும் அன்பர் ( aindhu indhriyangaL vendrendrum anbar) : Your devotees who have always conquered the five sensory organs மெய், வாய், கண், மூக்கு, செவி என்னும் ஐந்து பொறிகளையும் அடக்கி வென்றிருக்கும் அன்பர்களுடைய

அங்கம் பொருந்தும் அழகோனே (angam porundhum azhagOnE) : will find You residing in their bodily organs, Oh Handsome One! அங்கங்களில் எல்லாம் பொருந்தி விளங்கும் அழகனே,

அண்டம் தலங்கள் எங்கும் கலங்க (aNdan thalangaL engum kalanga) : When all the worlds and planets shook with fear (of asuras), அண்டங்களும் உலகங்களும் எங்கும் அன்று சூரனுக்கு அஞ்சிக் கலங்க,
