Paraphrase

ஆங்குடல் வளைந்து (Ang kudal vaLaindhu) : My body which had been in good shape became crooked; (ஆம் குடல்/ஆங்கு உடல் . Hence can be interpreted in two ways – either that the beautiful intestines have become crooked or that the body has become crooked.)

நீங்கு பல் நெகிழ்ந்து (neengu pal negizhndhu) : the teeth, destined to fall off, became loosened;

ஆய்ஞ்சுதளர் சிந்தை தடுமாறி (Aynju thaLar chinthai thadumARi) : the analytical mind has started faltering; ஆய்ந்து ஓய்ந்து மனம் தடுமாற்றம் அடைந்து,

ஆர்ந்துள கடன்கள் வாங்கவும் அறிந்து ( ArndhuLa kadangaL vAngavum aRindhu ) : I knew how to borrow sufficiently; ஆர்ந்து உள (arnthu uLa) : ample;

ஆண்டு பல சென்று கிடையோடே (ANdu pala sendru kidaiyOdE) : and several years passed like this until I became confined to the bed.

ஊங்கிருமல் வந்து வீங்கு குடல் நொந்து (Ungirumal vandhu veengu kudal nondhu) : Cough bouts start and the swollen intestines begin to ache. ஊங்கு=மிகுதி;

ஓய்ந்து உணர்வு அழிந்து உயிர் போமுன் (Oyndhu uNarvu azhindhu uyir pOmun) : Extreme fatigue sets in, and the faculties begin to decline. Before the life leaves my body,

ஓங்கு மயில் வந்து (Ongu mayil vandhu) : You must come mounted on Your great Peacock!

சேண் பெற இசைந்து ( sEN pera isaindhu) : Kindly give Your consent for my entering the heaven, சேண் பெற (sEM peRa) : to attain the heaven, விண்ணுலகை அடைய;

ஊன்றிய பதங்கள் தருவாயே (Undriya padhangaL tharuvAyE) : and grant me Your firm feet!

வேங்கையும் உயர்ந்த தீம் புனம் இருந்த ( vEngaiyum uyarndha theem punam irundha) : In the field of neem trees and tall sweet millet lived; தீம் = இனிய;

ஏந்திழையின் இன்ப மணவாளா (vEnthizhaiyin inba maNavALA) : the well-adorned pretty damsel, VaLLi and You are her delightful consort! ஏந்திழை = ஏந்து + இழை; ஏந்து = உயர்வு, சிறப்பு, அழகு; இழை = துகில், ஆபரணம்; ஏந்திழை = உயர்வும், சிறப்பும், அழகும் நிறைந்த அணிகலன்கள். இப்படி அணிந்தவள் ஏந்திழையாள்.

வேண்டும் அவர் தங்கள் பூண்ட பத மிஞ்ச (vEndum avar thangaL pUNda padha minja:) : You elevate the status of those who worship You! வேண்டிக்கொள்ளும் அடியார்கள் கொண்டுள்ள பதவி மேம்பட்டு விளங்க, அவர்கள் விரும்பிய பதவிகளை அல்லது திருவடியை அருள்புரிபவனே!; பதம் மிஞ்ச (patham minja) : elevating the status, பதவி மேம்பட்டு விளங்க;

வேண்டிய பதங்கள் புரிவோனே (vEndiya pathangaL purivOnE) : and bless them with Your hallowed feet which they seek! இம்மையில் அவர்கள் விரும்பிய உலகியல் பதவிகளையும், மறுமையில் தனது திருவடிகளையும் அருள் புரிபவனே,

மாங்கனி உடைந்து தேங்க வயல் வந்து (mAngkani udaindhu thEnga vayal vandhu) : In the fields, mangoes burst open, with the juices filling them up; மாம்பழம் உடைந்து, அதன் சாறு வயலில் வந்து தேங்கி,

மாண்பு நெல் விளைந்த வளநாடா (mANbu nel viLaindha vaLanAdA) : and rich paddy grows in Your fertile ChOzhanAdu! நல்ல அழகிய நெல் விளையும் வளப்பமுள்ள சோழ நாடனே!

மாந்தர் தவர் உம்பர் கோன் பரவி நின்ற (mAndhar thavar umbark On paravi nindra) : All people, sages and IndrA, the King of the Celestials, stand there worshipping You at உம்பர் கோன்() : king of celestials, Indra;

மாந்துறை அமர்ந்த பெருமாளே (mAnthuRai amarndha perumALE.) : ThirumAnthuRai, where You are seated, Oh Great One!
