Paraphrase

கலகலெனச் சில கலைகள் பிதற்றுவது ஒழிவ(து) (kala kalena sila kalaigaL pidhatruvadh ozhivadhu) : I should refrain from meaninglessly prattling philosophies after reading a few books, ஆரவாரத்துடன் சில நூல்களை ஓதிப் பிதற்றுவதை ஒழித்து,

உனைச் சிறிது உரையாதே (unai siRidhu uRaiyAdhE) : and pray to You for at least a little while; instead,

கருவழி தத்திய மடு அதனிற் புகு (karuvazhi thaththiya madu athaniR pugu) : I have fallen into the deep ditch that leads one to end up as fetus, கரு வழி தத்திய(karu vazhi thaththiya) : driving along the path to womb/fetus, கருவில் புகுவதற்கு வேண்டிய வழியில் வேகமாகச் செலுத்தும்; தத்துதல் = குதித்தல், தாவிச்செல்லுதல்; மடு = பள்ளம்; ;

கடு நரகுக்கிடை இடை வீழா (kadu naragukku idai idai veezhA) : and suffer in the middle of the terrible hell,

உலகுதனிற் பல பிறவி தரித்து ( ulaguthaniR pala piRavi dhariththu) : I end up taking several births in this world.

அற உழல்வது விட்டு இனி (aRa uzhalvadhu vittu ini) : I do not wish to be tossed about like this any more.

அடி நாயேன் உனது அடிமைத் திரள் அதனினும் உட்பட (adi nAyEn unadhu adimaith thiraL adhaninum utpada) : The lowly dog that I am, I would like to be in the midst of Your devotees;

உபய மலர்ப்பதம் அருள்வாயே (ubaya malarp padham aruLvAyE) : to obtain that position You have to bless me with both Your lotus feet!

குலகிரி பொட்டெழ (kulagiri pottezha) : The whole range of Krouncha mountains were powdered,

அலைகடல் வற்றிட (alai kadal vatrida) : and the seas dried up,

நிசிசரனைப்பொரும் அயில்வீரா (nisicharanaip porum ayil veerA) : when You fought with the demon SUran, Oh Great Warrior with the spear!

குணதர வித்தக குமர (guNadhara viththaga kumara) : You are full of virtues! You are the greatest scholar! You are the youthful lord!

புனத்திடை குற மகளைப் புணர் மணி மார்பா (punaththidai kuRa magaLaip puNar maNi mArbA) : You embraced VaLLi, the damsel of KuRavas, in the millet field, Oh, Handsome One with a large and lovely chest! மணி (maNi) : beautiful/hansome, அழகிய;

அலை புனலில் தவழ் வளை நிலவைத் தரு (alai punalil thavazh vaLai nilavaith tharu) : Shells shine brightly like the moon in the wavy waters at அலைகள் வீசுகின்ற நீரிலே தவழுகின்ற சங்குகள் ஒளிவிடுகின்ற, வளை நிலவைத் தரு (vaLai nilavaith tharu) : சங்குகள் ஒளியை வீசுகின்ற;

மணி திருவக்கரை உறைவோனே (maNi thiruvakkarai uRaivOnE) : the fine place, Thiruvakkarai, where You reside.

வக்ரன் என்ற அசுரன் வழிபட்டதால் இந்த தலம் ‘வக்கரை’ என்று பெயர் பெற்றதாக சொல்ல படுகிறது. இங்கு இருக்கும் வடிவாம்பிகை சமேத சந்திரசேகரர் ஆலயத்தில் மூலவர் மூன்று முக லிங்கமாக இருப்பது சிறப்பு. பல ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முற்பட்ட மரங்கள், இங்கே கல்லாக மாறி இருப்பதை காண முடியும். இந்த சிவன் கோவிலில் வள்ளி-தெய்வானையுடன் முருகப்பெருமான் பன்னிரு கரங்களுடன் மயில் மீது அமர்ந்து காட்சி தருகிறார். இந்த திருப்புகழைப் பாடி, இத்தல முருகனை வணங்கினால், நினைத்தது நிறைவேறும்.
