This song may be called "Skanda Purana in a nutshell". as it describes the cause for Skanda's birth and how Skanda protected the celestials against the atrocities of the demon Tarakasura. Another song that describes the plight of Indra and how Murugan liberates the Devas is Nirutharaarkkoru. How Shiva marries Parvati, an incarnation of Sati, is described in athimathanga and finally, how Murugan woos Valli is described in Neela mugilaana.

சுர சேனாபதியாயவனே ( sura sEnApathiAy avanE) : You became the Commander-in-Chief of the Celestials!

உனை அன்பினோடும் காமா அறு சோம சம ஆனன (unai anbinOdum kAmA aRu sOma samAnana) : I do not say with love "Oh Lord, You are handsome as Manmathan (Love God), Your six faces match six full moons,

தாமா (dhAmA) : You are like the sun to all lives; உயிர்களுக்குக் கதிரவனைப் போன்றவரே! தாமன் = சூரியன்;

மணமார் தரு நீப (dhAmA manamAr tharu neeba) : You wear the fragrant kadappa garlands,
