இபமாந்தர் சக்ர பதி ( ibamAndhar chakra pathi) : As an emperor with armies of elephants and soldiers; இபம்(ibam) : elephant; மாந்தர்(mAnthar) : people;

செறி படையாண்டு (seRi padai ANdu) : with the whole regimen at his command;

சக்ர வரிசைகளிட வாழ்ந்து திக்கு விசய மண் அரசாகி (chakra varisaigaLida vAzhndhu dhikku vijaya maN arasAgi) : and held command with the wheel of power and became world emperor after establishing dominion in all the directions; சக்ர வரிசைகள் இட (chakra varisaigaL ida) : carrying on work by royal command, தனது ஆணைப்படி வேலை முறைகளை நடத்த ; திக்கு விசய மண் அரசாகி (dhikku vijaya maN arasAgi) : become victorious in all directions and become the world emperor, திக்கு விசயம் செய்து உலகுக்கு அரசனாகி.

இறுமாந்து வட்ட அணைமிசை விரி சார்ந்து (iRumAndhu vatta aNai misai viri sArndhu) : he reigned proudly, reclining on a round cushion,

வெற்றி மலர்தொடை (vetri malar thodai) : adorned with garlands of victory,

எழிலார்ந்த பட்டி வகை பரிமள லேபம் (ezhilArndha patti vagai parimaLa lEpam) : clad in dazzling royal attires and with fragrant perfumes; பட்டி வகை (patti vagai) : silk clothes; பட்டு ஆடை வகைகள்;

தபனாங்க ரத்ந அணிகலன் (thabanAnga rathna aNikalan) : and wearing jewels with precious gems glistening like the bright sun. தபனம் (thabanam ) : heat; தபனம் அங்க (thabanam anga) : imbibing light from the sun, சூரிய ஒளியைத் தன்னகத்தே கொண்ட;

இவை சேர்ந்த விச்சு வடிவது (ivai sErndha vichchu vadivadhu) : All these constituted this emperor who gained his form from a human seed! விச்சு (vichchu) : seed, வித்து ;

தமர் சூழ்ந்து மிக்க உயிர் நழுவிய போது (thamar sUzhndhu mikka uyir nazhuviya pOdhu) : Near and dear ones thronged his bedside as he was about to breathe his last.

தழல் தாம் கொளுத்தி இட (thazhal thAng koLuththi ida) : His body was later consumed by fire,

ஒரு பிடி சாம்பல் பட்டது அறிகிலர் (oru pidi sAmbal pattadhu aRigilar) : An emperor reduced to a handful of ash with no one realizing this (the ephemeral nature of life)!

தன வாஞ்சை மிக்கு உனடி தொழ நினையாரே (dhana vAnchai mikkunadi thozha ninaiyArE) : People who hanker after riches never care to worship Your feet!

உபசாந்த சித்த குருகுல பவ (upasAntha chiththa kurukula bava) : These people of Kuru clan with calm mind – உபசாந்த (upasantha) : serene, calm, மன அமைதி கொண்ட;

பாண்டவர்க்கு வரதன் (pANdavarkku varadhan) : The five PAndavAs – to whom He granted boons;

மை உருவோன் ப்ரசித்த நெடியவன் ரிஷிகேசன் (mai uruvOn prasidhdha nediyavan rishikEsan) : He was dark complexioned; He was the tallest one (Thrivikraman) of great fame; He was Hrishikesan, having conquered his sensory organs;

உலகீன்ற பச்சை உமை அணன் (ulageendra pachchai umai aNan) : He was the elder brother of UmAdEvi of green hue, who created the entire universe;

வடவேங்கடத்தில் உறைபவன் (vada vEnkataththil uRaibavan) : His favourite abode is the Northern Mount VEnkatam (Thirumalai);

உயர்சார்ங்க சக்ர கரதலன் மருகோனே (uyar sArnga chakra karathalan marugOnE) : He holds the famous weapons of SArangam (bow) and Sudharsanam (Chakram); and He is the great Vishnu, and You are His nephew!

த்ரிபுராந்தகற்கு வரசுத (thripurAntha kaRku vara sutha) : You are also the famous son of SivA, who destroyed Thiripuram!

ரதிகாந்தன் மைத்துன முருக ( rathi kAnthan maiththuna muruga) : You are the cousin of Manmathan, consort of Rathi, Oh MurugA! (Manmathan is the son of Vishnu. Murugan is Vishnu's nephew. Murugan is thus Manmathan's cousin.)
